      Dream spectator

I realized last night during my dream that I'm often "spectating" my dreams rather than being a character. It's like 3rd person view and I'm wondering how you can work with that. It's like I'm focused on characters that aren't me and flutter from mind to mind instead of staying as one person. I have only been doing reality checks for 5 days so I don't think it's quite sunk in, but how can I focus when I keep changing characters?

I have that same problem from time to time and it's simple... make seeing things from the third person a dreamsign. This way you'll be like a ghost but at least you can resist being different characters and do whatever you like (including making yourself solid.) I did this once I think and I just floated around watching the story unfold (but then again my memory's fuzzy, I think I did some dream control like making hot tea splash on a main DC .) I don't think I've had "movie camera dreams" since that (third person but of one character is the closest thing now.)

My wife has this same problem, but she hasn't got any strong desire to fix it
She also has the problem that if she leaves the scene, she loses control, and either wakes up or slumps into normal dreams again.

In my opinion, LDGuy's suggestion is a good one. Use it as a dreamsign. And when you realise its a dream, look at your hands. If you have no hands, then *will* them into existence. Even if they're strange in some way, at least you will have a solid body of some kind.

Another option I've offered before would be to inhabit one of the dream characters, and transform that dream character into your own body and mind.

Placebo's suggestion is quite similar to my reply to Lucid DCs, also in General Discussion:

As far as complaining about switching characters in dreams, I don't see why you are, heh. I think it'd be fun to "be in somebody elses shoes" for part of my dream. The whole thing about being in 3rd person though, I think it would be best to just realize this is a dreamsign, as said before, and use it to will yourself into taking form.

Hope this has been even the slightest bit helpful

I don't have 3rd person dreams but I have the camera view dreams...It's like there is a camera behind me that I'm looking throught, yet I'm sitting there infront of were I look, And in non lucid and lucid dreams that's the only person I am..xD
