shadows as RCs?
I don't think I've ever seen a shadow in my dreams. -1.Have you seen shadows in your dreams? And if you did aren't they weird looking, not accurate, I think that's what would happen since a mirror doesnt show what is supposed to. So i'm thinking looking for shadows and seeing if they are accurate(are they pointing the right way-away from the source of light?or are there absolutely no shadows to be found?). Hass anyone else thought of this? thanks.

Sure, that could work nicely. Seems a bit too complex though, what with the correct direction from the sun and all. Sometimes you need a really simple RC that works quickly before you lose your lucidity or the dream all together. Also, this RC isn't among the easiest to perform during waking hours. You would have to be outside, and it would have to be sunny. Some others, like the nose or checking-your-watch RC are more practical. But hey, whatever works for you! :)

I've seen shadows on walls in LDs... Not only everyday kinda shadows... but I'm always seeing "shadow people" in my dreams as well... usually being attacked by them. At first I only saw them during sleep paralysis, but they've crept into my dreams as well.
Although me and my girlfriend have seen them in waking life around my apartment too, so I might just be a little crazy... *shrugs*

I acutally considered this, using shadows in such a way. I've seen shadows in both lucid and non lucids. The idea ocurred to me in a lucid where I could see my shadow on the ground before me. I wondered if it was laying properly in respect to where the sun was. I tend to notice light and shadow alot so a shadow reality check might work if I can remember to do it.
Like Mes mentioned though, something like that would take a lot of thought and the other reality checks are much easier. I'll give the shadow RC a go if I can remember to, just to check it out.

Well as others have said, sounds a little to complex to work into your daily routine. As there are many factors you gotta take in for why shadows look a certain way etc. With other RC's, for example the nose pinching one, if you can breathe then it's basically 100% going to be a dream. You either can breathe, or you can't.
BUT, if it works for you, why not?

What an awesome idea!! I'm pretty hooked on the hand reality check right now, but I'm always interested in trying out new ones.

I have a feeling that a shadow is something that you mind could pretty easily produce and if you look for it your brain will create one. Just a thought, but it might work.
