dreams on weekends only?
i started keeping a dream journal about a month ago and have had one lucid dream but now i only seem to have have dream recall on the weekends and i know thats gota hurt my lucid dreaming. i get roughly 7-8 hours of sleep every night so that cant be it. does anyone have any suggestions to help me?

It's probably because on the weekend you have time to get up, relax and write down your dreams to every meticulous detail. During the week you're usually rushing to go to school or work.
Am I right?

I'd have to agree with Grod. Also, though, you may just not be able to concentrate enough on recall during the week because of busy life worries. I know my dreams aren't as detailed, say...now, when I have a bunch of finals, as opposed to a week or two ago when I didn't have any. You may be thinking "I will remember my dreams I will remember my dreams" and then not being able to because your subconcious mind is so focused on other, school/work related things that it just doesn't listen.
:P Darn subconcious has selective hearing if you ask me.
Take some extra time to relax before bed. Probably an hour would be best...take a long hot bath, read a light book that isn't too involving, draw, or just chill and listen to some music. I wouldn't reccommend watching TV as it tends to be too involving...you want something where your brain can multitask and start conciously sorting your worries away before you even begin to sleep. Then when you sleep, you have a better chance of remembering to recall those pesky, elusive dreamtimes. That's my suggestion, anyways.

yea i try to get enough sleep but im having a problem with school right now. relaxing sounds good but what about sleeping pills like Valerian, do they work? or have a bad effect?

I wouldn't know. However, I do know that I can never remember my dreams no matter how hard I try when I take cold medicine that makes you drowsy. In fact, whenever I'm forced to sleep drugged up on something, even if its not supposed to make you sleepy, I just don't remember my dreams, or remember any detailed ones anyways. Usually just fragments. Drugs have a way of messing with your head. My theory is that a lot of them have the effect of limiting your higher functions during sleep, like Lucid Dreaming and Memory.
I'm not sure, though...there are some people I've heard who use sleeping medicines that they find help with LDing, so maybe it'd help with you. And, in fact, it may be different for every person how they react to sleeping pills. Just like some people sleep longer and are more drowsy than others after using sleeping pills, and others are rested, They probably have different effects on your dreaming life. If you're using a pill for Lding, I'd suppose you'd have to shop around, find one that gets the best results. But if you're already getting a good nights rest, I doubt they're the answer, nor would I reccomend them.
You might also think about this: how you wake up has a lot to do with how you remember a dream. I can never remember my dreams if I wake up to an alarm...check your morning routines during the weekdays and the weekends and see if they differ, and if so, try to match the weekday routines to the weekend ones as best you can without interfering with your actual schedule, if at all possible. That might also help.

Yes exactly what Grod said. I personally only LD on weekends because it's much more stress-free and more time. :)

Well i'm on holidays for the next two months. Which means virtually no worries/stress at all. Hopefully that means i'll get a lot of LD's if i'm lucky :D

Same with me. Weekends always seem to be way more productive when it comes to dreaming in my case. I'm almost convinced my sleeping schedule during weekdays is to blame, but like others have said, stress plays a huge role as well. School generates a lot of stress for me.
