dream recall question...
i was not sure if its normal, but this morning, i woke up, and remembered no dreams, i thought i had no dream, then i got up, and went upstairs and then came back down and checked my computer, and i started remembering my dream, but it was like 25 minutes after i woke up? does it usually take that long to remember?

Heya moifay!! :sunflower:
Well I guess it all depends on how good your overall dream recall is. I remember about 5 dreams a night.. I'll usually remember the longest/most vivid ones the second I wake up, and then the rest will come within a few minutes. But sometimes, I'll go through half the day without remembering anything more, and suddenly something will accidentally spark my memory.
How long have ya been keeping a dream journal, or are you? These things get easier the more you write them down.

hey, haha, well, yea i have that sometimes too, but i havent been remembering my dreams right when i wake up, but maybe i have to get up and wait a bit for them to slowly come back, i started my dream journal the day after i joined...so, about 5 6 days?

5-6 days, that's just like yesterday! ;) You're doing fine, give it a few more days and you'll see more results. Someone had a suggestion of lying there in bed for a few minutes after you wake up and not move a muscle.. moving sometimes kind of works like an eraser and erases your memory.
Wait, not even.. it's 3 days! :smartie:

hmmmm, interesting, ill try that, but usually im wake up and just fall right back asleep, but yea im tonight im gunna sit there when i wake up for like 15 mins, and see if i remember anything! :D

wooohoo, my dream recall seems to be getting better :) i slept from about 12:30 - 5:50 or so, and i didnt remember having any dreams, so i got up, did some stuff, still didnt remember anything, so i thought id go back for 1 more try, and sure enough i had a dream, very strange dream too, but a dream none the less, and its in my dream log :D!!
-
Woohoo!!! :goodjob: Congrats!!
-
yea, laying in bed for a few minutes will help your recal alot. i just jumped out of my bed this morning and didnt remember i had a dream for 30 minutes after i got up, i also couldnt remember enough to write anything in my dream journal....
-
Yep. in fact try not moving a muscle. lay in the same position and try 'feel' the dream mood ... then reconstruct it... all before moving.
Helps me anyway...
-
yea, its probably better that i just wait cuz if i remembered it right away, id be so messed up from waking that id probably hardly be able to write haha. but i hope its getting better :D thanx for the suggestions :)

Remembering dreams later during the day happens to me occasionally. I'll be doing something and suddenly the dream I had that night will run through my mind like a movie. I'll remember every detail, every scene, every action, and I'll be surprised that I forgot about it.
-
yea, i ahve that sometimes too, the mind is a strange thing :o *falls down* :)

What I like is when I run into someone and think of the last time I saw them, then do a double-take like, "Oh, that was a dream." The dream memory is totally a part of waking life until I focus on it, like achieving lucidity way after the fact. It always trips me out and makes me laugh.
-
Just out of curiosity, how did you awake? Did you use the mild method? Or an alarm clock?
-
if your asking me, i just naturally wake usually, or from people stomping.
-
IF you can't remember a thing about your dream in the morning, and you lie there patiently, even if it takes 10 minutes, I garuntee* you will remember something.
