I remember reading somewhere (sorry, I can't remember where, too much cannabis I suppose :| ) that cannabis tends to dampen the dreaming mechanism in the brain, thus when using the herb you tend to either dream less, or the dreams are less intense.
From my own subjective experience I can say this seems to be relatively true.

hey, i see, well, that sucks  maybe its lies, maybe i can work around it, hopefully :)
No just don't smoke like 3 or 4 hours before you go to sleep. :)
done and done :)
Presumably you mean cannabis? :)
THC definitely suppresses REM. But one of the effects of this seems to be that you develop a REM deficit - so if you are a regular user then when you stop taking it dreaming tends to be more intense.
hmmmmm, yea, i had a hunch i was spelling it wrong ^_^ now i know thx :D haha but yea, hmmm, perhapse i should quit for a while, see how it works out.... thanks :)
it causes your dreams to "stick together" :D
so instead of 4-5 different dreams a night, you may have one gigantic 3 hrs long dream.
I've been a toker off and on for a few years now. And one thing I know to be true - when you're smoking on a regular basis, dream recall is made extremely difficult. Yeah, it inhibits REM sleep, so I believe you do not dream at all the first several hours of sleep. This is why a lot of smokers complain of being so tired when they get up - because they got a lot less deep sleep. If you want to remember your dreams and have higher chances at lucidity, definately don't smoke anywhere close to bed time. And yes, there does seem to be a build up during times you're smoking a lot. I find that any time I quit, for quite a while I have high recall, much greater chance at lucidity, and much more intense and interesting dreams. I say try quitting for a while. See how you do. May be very worth your while. :D
Yeah, i can definately relate on this one. I just recently quit the ganj a few months ago. My dream recall was really really really really bad. I probably didnt remember any of my dreams for at least like six months. But since i've quit, my dreams have definately become more vivid. I would definately recommend this to you.... your lungs will love you too.
ahahaha....
Take it easy,
about that stick issue, i think that mite be what i have, because i remember part of 1 dream, then it just goes from there to a new dream, etc, it sucks, but i think im gunna cut back for a while, hell i can hardly afford the stuff as it is hahaha, but if its there, i wll smoke it :D. thanks everyone :)
Just don't smoke more than 2-3 times a week and you'll be fine, its the people who toke 2-3 times a day who should be worrying
Let's all test it tonight. Buy some cannabis from the nearest dealer on your block and go to your house and smoke away. Let's see how it affects us. :D
weed doesnt make dreams less anything it actually has a tendancy to make reality more like a dream or illusion, i have personally never smoked but i hang with a lot of peeps that do and thats how they say they see it PCE
yea, well i been tokin 1-2/3 times a day usually, not alot per session, like a bowl each.... but yea, im cutting back a bit :) thx
maybe if i impare the mind with weed, and get really good recall without quitting, maybe when i do quit, my dream recall could be uber crazy? maybe?
I Found when i was a smoker i had zero dream recall. I was a cronic smoker tho for years without have a break. When i stoped it was amazing the difference in dream recall and vividness. Going from what felt like having no dreams to intense dreams was actually quite full on.
Peace Sensi.
I've used to smoke a lot, and my dream recall was great. I had random lucid dreams too, but my lucidity level didn't able to stay up long. Well I quit now, and havne't smoked in a month, and I had the longest lucid dream of my life. 45 minutes, dream time. Coincidence? Maybe.
This is kinda cool. I was just praying to God about how I can have better dream recall, mine's been pretty duddy lately. Then I came on here and there's all this talk about not smoking so much or quitting. This is probably a good idea for me too. I think I'll quit soon. Probably not for good. But I would much rather focus on my dreams and such at this time of my life. Cuz I don't have a lot of stress and so my creativity is probably at a high. I think so cuz I've been making up a lot of stories/plots and such. So it stands to reason that I may be having some pretty interesting dreams that I haven't been remembering. When I look at the word remember, I think how cool it is that the first three letters are REM and the last four letters are the same as the last four letters of slumber. Just a fun coincidence. Enough out of me.
As much as I love pot, it could never compare to the awesome power of the dream world. I'd trade any drug experience for a lucid dream, anyday. Come to think of it...I think I'd prefer a lucid dream to anything else in life! I'm getting to hooked on this lucid dreaming stuff. I feel like my waking life is only there to plan for the dreams
yea, and plus, when i become lucid in my dreams, i could just smoke the weed in my dreams ;) hmmmm :) but yea, i think ill quit after my bday... mmhmmmm.
Last time I tried smoking pot into my dreams, it turned into chicken as I packed the bowl! Wierd.
hahahahahahha, hell that would be even better than smokin weed, smokin giant chicken and getting mega-crazy-super-exciting-ultra show funny  who knows, maybe in our minds, chickens get us high? hahaha
Nah. After I packed it people laughed at me and we didn't smoke it. Come to think of it, why didn't I smoke it? I got a new one to add the list of things to do. Smoke chicken, and see where it takes me.
hahahahahaha, when i become lucid, im deffinately going to try it ;) :D
What happens when you guys take like, acid in your dreams? Does it have affects similar to what happens when you really take LSD?
