body shocks?
often times when i'm about to go to sleep or waking up in the morning and going back to sleep, i experience something that can only be described as a shock throughout my entire body. it's not really like SP or HI vibrations or anything like that (because i've experienced all that before). it's just a quick little pulse of energy/shock all around my body. it isn't exactly unpleasant but it doesn't really feel good either. anyone else experience this? it usually occurs even if my body isn't entirely still, which is why i don't think it has much to do with SP, HI, etc. although i could be wrong... thanks!

Maybe it's the old hag, or u need more water. Cause not many of us think about drinking water so u might shake b/c ur dehydrated. But the old hag, is just a body shake, similar to an SP or Hi, and immediatly wake us up over again, which is annoying. Esp, when I just start to notice I'm asleep and begin to take control of my dreams, which doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes it does and then I get that old hag. ugh. lol. I hope I helped.

wedontexist, I could be wrong but your "body shocks" sound like "hypnic jerks":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk:
A hypnic or hypnagogic jerk is an involuntary muscle twitch (commonly known as a myoclonic twitch) which occurs during the transition into hypnagogia. It is often described as an electric shock or falling sensation, and can cause movement of the body in bed. Hypnic jerks are experienced by most people, especially when exhausted or sleeping uncomfortably.
Occurrence:
Hypnic jerks are usually felt once or twice per night. More regular, and usually less intense, hypnic jerks often occur during normal sleep. In extreme cases, this may be classified as a disorder called periodic limb movement. The person with the disorder will usually sleep through the events.
When a subject is deprived of sleep and is trying to fight sleep, hypnic jerks can occur more often. This normally happens to subjects who have deprived themselves of sleep for longer than 24 hours, or to those who have recently woken up from insufficient amounts of sleep.

i used to get these, exept it would seem like my heart would skip a beat and then try to make up for it and do a super-beat, which would jolt my body. please note: i have a perfectly healthy heart and body and i have no heart problems, this just happens to me.
