two kinds of lucid dreaming

Hi, I've been playing around with lucidity methods with WBTB. I'm not entirely sure but there seems to be 2 types of lucid dreaming from personal experience. The first one or the paradigm of what a lucid dream is..is that U become aware and concious that U are in a dream but then there is another type. The one that U get from WBTB and auto-suggestive methods or MILD. U remember to do a reality check and U act on the result of the reality check..it turns out 'positive', the watch goes crazy and U remember to fly,go somewhere..etc. But Ur not aware that Ur dreaming....Ur just acting out of instinct from all the training during waking time. So is that still lucid dreaming or just another form of dream control...:P.

You are only lucid if you are aware that you are dreaming. So the answer to the second part is "no."

BTW, just recently my roommate moved to Singapore for study abroad. :D I'm so jealous.

Meh. My best lucid dreams are usually MILDs, DILDs, or HILDs. The reality checks should alert you to the fact that you are dreaming, which creates lucidity.

I see no difference between the first and second types. If you do a reality check and you don't realize you are dreaming, then you are probably doing the reality check wrong in waking life (AKA, you do half-assed reality checks).

I can see that there are two main methods of Lucid Dream induction ( to slightly go off topic )

The WILD and DILD,

Other methods are just branches off of these two roots

You can either be in a dream and than become lucid, or go straight from the waking state into a lucid,

Other methods such as HILD's, WBTB's, FILD's, Reality checks...etc...

Extend from either of the two main roots,

ex. If you are hypnotically induced into a lucid dream, You could either go straight into a lucid from the hypnotic suggestion/trance, or it could linger in your subconciousness until you fall into a dream and than the suggestion pops up and helps you realise you are dreaming... so it could extend from either the WILD or DILD roots..

ex.. Wake back to Bed, usually a branch off of the WILD root, You wake from a dream, hold waking conciousness for some time , than usually pass straight into a lucid dream, but not always.

ex. Finger Induced Lucid Dreams, Usually of the WILD root..

ex.. Reality checks, usually of the DILD root...

so would most agree with me, that there are just two main roots, the WILD's and DILD's, and the rest are just branches.?
