How many people have you told about LD?

How many people have you told about lucid dreaming, and what were their reactions?I've told-

My mom, who has been doing it naturally all her life, but doesn't realize its potential.

My dad, who said 'I've no interest in dreams.'

My aunt, who can't seem to understand what it is.

My teacher, who ignored me.

My friend, who got a strangely hostile expression in her eyes.

And my other friend, who walked off changing the subject.

I don't understand peoples reactions. They're acting as if its a taboo subject or something.:uhm: What do you think?

Hmm... I told my mom, who said I shouldn't go around talking about them, because no one is interested in hearing about it and my dreams, I've told three of my friends, one has them on occations, and the two other wanted to learn (but were not motivated enough to follow my instructions to them. :P) Oh, and I recently told another friend who loves to hear about them, and has had them most of his life, though not that often.

I also just remembered that I told my best friend when I was around 8, who said that she had them, too. We WILDed together when we slept at each other places, and talked about the lucid dreams afterwards, I can't believe I forgot that. :P And when I was arounf 13 years old, I had another best friend whose place I used to sleep at on weekends, and I told her too. She was not very interested, but not uninterested either. I did quite a few WILDs at her place because we used to sleep in... until 1pm. And I just recently found out about WILDs.

Perhaps this can be merged into it.

But, aye, it's funny how so many people aren't open-minded enough to trust someone that speaks about something seriously in such a manner. So they end up giving out such silly reactions, like the ones you presented above.

I told a few friends and two of them were interested, mainly because hes heard of it before and actually had one. One of them just thought it was rediculous and impossible.

I told my dad and he said "why can't i see people flying about then?" Then he gave me that look, the one he gave me when i was 10yrs old and telling him a lie about cleaning my room. The "yea right" look.

I told my mom, she is semi-interested in it. Sometimes tells me her dreams. But i'm pretty sure she doesn't believe you can controll them.

Told my brother and all he said was "cool".

Told my dad and he seemed to think it was interesting... but not enough to try and have one himself.

My mom thought it was interesting, and ended up having a dream she looked at her hand afterward.

Three of my friends and all of them have had full blown lucids :D, all of them were amazed and thanked me for telling them about it.

Oh I've also discussed lucid dreaming with a coworker of mine... he had an accidental WILD while sleeping in the back room of the restaurant I work at!

It hasn't been hard getting my friends and family into lucid dreams, but outside of that circle most people aren't willing to listen to such "crazy new age ideas".

Ha ha, I don't know why but that struck me as hilarious...as far as people that I've talked to about it, I really can't remember.

I think that I've brought it up a few times during conversations about dreams with various people, but generally they quickly acknowledge what I have to say about lucid dreaming and then go on to tell me dreams they can remember.

So far I haven't met anyone in my daily life who is as interested in LDing as I am.

I've told numerous friends and only two has been interested in it and they both come to this website. :D but i've also told my mom who thinks im crazy for trying so hard just to dream and my dad who just asked me to ask a DC what the lottery numbers will be.

I've told:
My mom who thinks it is very "spiritual."

My dad who thinks that it is cool, but not really worth pursuing.

My brother who gets a few a week and likes them.

A couple of my friends. One thinks I'm crazy (a guy) and the other looked at me wide eyed for a couple seconds before saying she didn't remember having any lucid dreams.

My aunt who thinks it may be dangerous since I'll change something in my subconscious for the worse.

My sister who thinks I'm wasting my time recording dreams.

I think that's all of them, I'll edit this if I remember more.

Now that I've gotten 'good' at it, most of my family members believe I'm having sex fantasies. D=

To my younger sister, however, I've told all of my adventures. She has had a few lucid dreams since my instruction, but has since lost interest (they happen to scarcely for her to care, I suppose).

My friends know I can lucid dream, but I don't tell them of the content. One of them has gained interest in dream interpretation (he's as good as any dream interpreters on DV!).

My mom and dad, as a kid, before I knew it had a name. They weren't suprised and have active dream lives too.
My siblings, who also have a lot of dreams
My husband, who doesn't have lucid dreams but likes the topic and loves hearing my dreams, he won't try to learn to have them, he is worried he will mess up his sleeping patterns since it doesn't come naturally and requires effort, he doesn't want to push it for now

LOL! Does your dad think the future is locked in the confines of your subconscious? That's awesome.

I've told:
One of my bosses who was just like "okay, whatever". He can't stand his wife and feels bad when he cheats on her so I told him to learn to lucid dream and he could bang other chicks without the guilt..

Co-worker #1 said "Oh yeah, I do that all the time!" (obviously you don't or you'd be more excited)
Co-worker #2 actually knew what I was talking about and said he'd had a couple.
My wife who listens to be talk about them and read up on them but isn't all that interested herself.

The others I can't remember all that much mostly involved weird looks.

Told a few of my friends.

- One said he's had lucid dreams all the time, but never tried to actively control the dream, and didn't really understand what I meant when I said he could control what goes on in his dreams.

- Several (2-3) just did the "smile and nod" routine, then eventually found a way to change the subject.

- The last one thought it was awesome and said he would try it. Never heard if he succeeded.

I just asked someone that I knew and he said that he has them all the time or thinks he does.

i told my friend and he didnt believe me, thought that it wasnt possable. i told him it worked cuz i tried it and the method "worked". last thing i could do was tell him to go to this site. dont think he did though.

my brother tried it but then gave up.

my aunt thought it was only good for nightmares.

I've told:

My mom, who didn't seem too interested.
My sister, who had heard of it before in a psychology class.
One of my friends, who said he had a lucid one time, but had no control.

I have pretty much posted every LD that I have ever had on facebook. So, potentially, all of my friends know.

My best friend knows about it. He was mildly skeptical at first... well, until he saw me dive out of bed after a WILD and write down four pages of my experience with monstrous enthusiasm. Now he wants to learn how to do so. ^^

mom- scared... she thinks it's a cult thing:roll:
Dad- doesn't really talk about it. Doesn't really understand it.
Sister - she understands it.
friends - kind of don't like to bring it up. But I have about 2-3 friends who think it's interesting.

mum and dad and family beleive it cant be done friends arent intrested in it execpt 3 but 2 say they got bored of it after the first on the didnt no any thing about it and the other doesnt stick to much so yea this is the best place to talk about lds i think

I've told family... and I think a few friends (both net and real)...

Mum & Dad - Sometimes talk about their dreams, but the concept of lucid dreaming was new for them. Mum was interested in LDing, but never really got motivated (or perhaps I should at least give her my EWOLD book). Dad doesn't really care much for dreams.
Younger Brother - Was really interested in the concept, and now has become quite proficient in inducing them, though his dream control isn't quite at my level. Still, pretty good going...
Little Sister - Is always talking to me about her dreams, so when I told her about LDing, again, she was interested and got into it.

As for friends, one of them, who has very frequent nightmares, found the concept interesting and tried doing it herself. Others, I'm not sure... I think I have mentioned it to other friends, but never really got any wierd reactions and stuff. Either way, I'm going to now, as I'm really curious about how people will react. :D
