Why couldn't I kill a dream character...

I was lucid in a dream and there were quite a few dream characters around and we were all stuck in some store like CVS. They were annoying the f*** out of me and would not leave me alone. probably because I did something to "upset" them. one was even poking me in at head trying to annoy me or something. I told them to backoff or else. They ignored my warning so I blew up some guy and another women. dont worry there was no blood or anything, it's like they were a 2d piece of glass and it shattered into pieces.

anyway I killed the guy first, then the women, and then I went to kill the third one, but it didn't work. he didnt blow up at all. whatever I tried to do to him had no affect at all(I tried to freeze him in time and blow him up). he just walked away. This didnt make sense to me and it surprised me, maybe even scared me. This bothered me a lot and so i asked another dream character why didn't he die. The dream character couldn't give me a coherent answer. he mumbled something about a controller, an xbox, buttons, and not finished loading. I asked again, but something stopped him from answering again. Then after that me and two others got possessed by the power puff girls and i tried to fight it off to(I'm pretty sure i lost lucidity right here when i got lost in my emotions of anxiousness and surprise because this is just absurd)

anyone got any ideas..comments? id really like to know what happened here. thanks :?

what caught my eye was the "not finished loading" comment that the DC made (DC = dream character).
u couldn't freeze him or do anything 2 him. well maybe u weren't completely lucid?? as in, u didn't finish fully loading into ur dream.

OR

perhaps it wasn't a dream character. that's kinda spooky...

I had a similar experience.
DC greatly annoyed me, and I was trying to summon a gun to kill her.

Well, I tried so many techniques, and nothing... In teh end I finally got a gun, and it turned to be a BB gun :(
I got very annoyed and woke up



Another time I wanted a DC to disappear, and he said something about not being able to unload himself or his leg got stuck :/
So he kept jumping there on 1 leg :D

thanks for replying. maybe what my dream character said might be a key. the not finished loading part.

I admit that i wasn't at a high lucid level, but I definitly was in control. I killed those other two like i was stepping on grass(i really didnt care about them)I killed them one after another immediately, but then when i got to the third one, nothing(like my power was stripped). Its like driving a car really fast and then this wall out of nowhere comes out in the middle of the road and you've crashed. My powers had NO affect on him(and i've had multiple dreams with this power, so i know how to use it). Perhaps this person wasn't a dream character at all? maybe an intruder....

Maybe after killing the first 2 you (subconsciously) lost the extreme desire for destruction an a slight bit of doubt about what you were doing kept you from being able to control what you wanted. Doubt can be a powerful emotion.

another thing I forgot to mention:

This thing (unkillable DCs) has something to do with ur subconsciousness.

Those DCs I tried to eliminate got in the way of my lucidity.
They opposed me turning fully lucid, and contstanly annoyed me(another connection here).


Well, this may be some kind of "dream law" or something :/

Interesting thought: THE LAWS OF DREAMING.

That would put a damper on some ppl's spirits to have restrictions....whatever they are...

Not like laws of physics, but more like a general guidelines for ur own dreams.

you maybe right. It sounds logical somewhat. Subconcious mind trying to stop you gain control(in my case they succeeded) maybe others have encountered this unkillable DC

btw, what do you make of me being "possessed". I was thinking that maybe my subconcious mind was trying to take over. just a thought...

DODGY BUT COOL LOOKING THEORY TIME!
NB: My ideas. Not always right but still an intresting read (sometimes).

There are no laws to dreaming. Ever. The only thing that is "law", if you like to call it that, is your brain.

I think that as you get confident you can do something, you can do it. It's like with walking, you are so confident you can do it you can. It's the same with killing off Dream Characters, perhaps, after a while you get confident you can do it so you just do it. What you may of experienced was a tiny fluke: he just didn't go.

You then lost confidence- "why didn't it happen?" "have i lost control?" were the thoughts probably flowing throw your mind at the time. When you tried again; it obviously failed again, because you lost confidence. Each time you tried it simply got worse and worse until the point you really believed you just couldn't do it, he was not going to go away. This made you lost some/all lucidity and led to the "posession" by the powerpuff girls.

The "unloading" comments could be the 'rationalization' your consciouness/subconscioussness has attritbuted to the sudden disappearance of objects. Perhaps watching "The Matrix" or some other similar film may have made this thought 'stick'. Maybe your subconscious likes to think that you're in a computer program. It dosen't make this obvious, but casual references to the "unloading/loading" could be that subconscious 'rationalization' being shown.

(springing off into a tanagent about rationalization)
I'm sure that "brains" (heh, referring to them as if they're enteriely different lifeform to us), like to make some reason up, however how silly it seems, for things happening. It's just normal behaviour. Like when you see something, turn round to look at it and it's not there. Your inital thought is "weird", but then your 'rationalization mode' kicks in and you think "well, it's obviously because I just saw a bird flick past perhaps, or a ball...or maybe my eye has a small problem". You quickly convince yourself.

Another example is say, why the cost of a ticket price has just gone up. You think "well, it's been at the same price all the time. why the hell has it just risen?". You then reason: "well, i did hear ratings dropped...perhaps they've started to include the VAT? yes, yes, that sounds right." And you think no more of it.

It always happens. You are constantly reasoning for why things happen. Let's say an elephant flies past in dream. "Why did that happen? Maybe there's an updraft? It's because of a hurriacane". That, to your brain, which is running the dream on "autopilot", seems perfectly correct. The fact there is no hurricane does not faze it, and perhaps if it does one obligingly appears in your dream.

That's why you lucid dream, you make the "click" where your conscioussness kicks in and thinks "hang on. a hurricane? a flying elephant? no chance - i must be dreaming!". If you didn't, your "autopilot" would just go with some half-baked 'rational' reason.
