Do you think there will be a "magic" Lucid Dream Pill within the next 10 years, where you can just take it and you will be guaranteed to have a Lucid Dream? And that it will give you a minimum 1 hour Lucid Dream? So far the closest thing we have yet to this is Galantamine+Choline.
What do you think?
I doubt any lucid dream pill will last. Eventually, our bodies will become used to the extra chemicals and stop producing them naturally. This will lead to dependency, stronger doses, etc.
Either that, or we will become lucid less often, but retain good clarity and recall (again, because our minds will get used to the drug).

I don't think the idea of a truly effective lucid dream pill in the next 10 years is that far-fetched. As technology advances and processors get smaller and more affordable there will likely be new ways to induce lucids electronically as well.
Until then all we can do is practice as much as possible and learn to master it on our own.
Well, chemicals do have a very large effect on lucid dreaming.
It is certainately possible (if not likely) that more effective chemicals will be developed.
But 100% lucidity? and 1 hour min? The brain just doesn't work like that, there are more conditions than just chemicals. I think that it is impossible.

No. Lucid dreaming is a state of mind, you still have to recognize that you are dreaming. No chemical can do that.
A drug? I don't think so, however, I imagine that by the use of special devices, there could be a way to induce REM sleep, being lucid however, is a different thing and I doubt that a machine could make you lucid.

Hopefully, but people are so sad these days by that time any public interest might be lost. Growing virtual reality technology is our enemy here but luckily I could never see it being better than lucid dreaming. Funnily enough I've asked loads of people at my school and the thought of being able to do anything you want limited only by your imagination is not appealing to most people. Oh what a dull race we're becoming... chuffing robots.
Inducing lucids electronically seems plausible to me. If somehow these microprocessors can target specific 'logic and reasoning' areas that are active only when lucid, it should facilitate the realization.Quote:
