I FINALLY Got Over My Fear Of Lucid Dreaming!
Hey everyone! I'm excited to be posting this. I haven't posted here in quite some time actually - perhaps six months or so.
Anyway, just a little background: I have been a "natural" lucid dreamer all my life. I'd get them from time to time as a child and was always scared of some of the weirdness that I would experience - like the buzzing, chanting voices I sometimes heard, etc. I even posted on this board a few times how frightened I was of lucid dreaming and how I would "yank myself" out of the dream when I discovered one was taking place.
Well... I am happy to say that I finally am over this fear!! As a matter of fact, I welcome them now. I went a period of several months without having ANY lucid dreams. Now, I find I can easily have them when I wake up very early in the morning, then go back to sleep.
Nowadays I get into a lucid dreaming state maybe three to six times per month. During these times, I have done a bit of experimenting. I have purposely conjured up family members... I have visited different places. I have experimented with floating, I have even tried some R-rated things. :oops: Which in itself is quite fascinating, given how "real" everything feels!
This morning I had another awesome lucid dream, where I conjured up an image of my deceased father and had a conversation with him.
One thing that helped with my fear is that I seem to lucid dream during daylight hours - early mornings.
Also, it used to be that as soon as I told myself "Oh, I'm dreaming", then I would immediately hear a loud buzzing or dinging sound then wake up. So what helps is that when I realize I am in a lucid dream, not to really 'say it' to myself, but to just 'know it'. I know that probably sounds insane. But maybe not. ;)
One thing I noticed about lucid dreaming is that if my brain can't figure out how to replicate a person that I am conjuring up, then the person that DOES end up appearing sort of has a blank face. It's really weird.
Another strange thing that happened in a recent lucid dream (a week or two ago): I was in a dream and realized that I couldn't see very well out of my left eye - it was really blurry for some reason. (Which makes since because I recently - in real life - injured my left eye). So I said to myself: "Make really clear eyes" or something like that. Immediately, a totally clear, amazingly detailed beautiful drawing of an eye appeared in front of me. Sooo weird. But that's lucid dreaming for you. There are no words to describe it, other than: AMAZING.
Thanks for reading this... I am just really excited and happy that I have FINALLY - after 30 years - learned how to not be afraid of lucid dreaming, and instead have begun experimenting with it. It's seriously the most amazing thing EVER. As many of you probably know by now.
