External Light Levels
Just a question: How do light levels affect your dreams, and does having a pitch-black room help you to have lucid dreams more than a room that is not completely dark? For me, I go to a different house every Friday, and I am 7 for 12 on the nights I have been there. That is, I've had 7 LD's on 12 attempts. The room is completely dark. For the rest of the week, my LD rate is much worse, and my blinds don't completely close, so the sunlight comes into the room in the morning. What do you think about this?

You go into deeper sleep with lower levels of light. This means you get a more restful sleep so your later REM cycles are longer and better. For naps, high levels of light will make for better lucid dreams.
In theory anyway.

There was in fact a lucid method which stated that you should sleep with some light in the room as it helped you sleep less deeply therefore helping you to become lucid. I actually found that my lucids were brighter when I slept with the lights on but dimmed.

It is either that:
1. Different people who are used to different light levels; if you sleep in the same light level as you do usually, because you are more comfortable, you would have more dreams.
2. There is a specific light level your brain requires you to have in order to fall into just the right type of sleep. (sounds weird..) For you, it seems to be the darkest times...
These two might connect in someway that is not known to me...
I might be wrong, it might actually have something to do with when you wake up and when you have LDs.
