omgomgomg you're scaring me
Im not to sure about that...My mind(consciously) can't think of anything fast enough to go in a straight, continuous line without breaks(Like when I have to write an essay I might have a couple seconds then I just sit there because I can't think of anything else). Maybe dreams might be made up of events that happened during the day but it is changed around...maybe....
whoa thats very possible. like it takes your day and distorts it to unrecognizable proportions.
I doubt that. Someone can sleep for three days straight, after all, at which point that kind of logic doesn't hold. I think that dreams are a combination of what happened during the day, what you saw on TV, what's been on your mind for a while, unconscious thoughts, that sort of thing. :)
I think it goes along with how you feel within your dream...I usually notice that what i expect to happen happens.
I doubt it's planned out beforehand. If that was the case, lucidity and dream control don't exist.
Of course, just because our minds make it up as we go doesn't mean it's not stable. If you're in the kitchen one second, you aren't going to flit to the mall the next, because it doesn't make sense to your brain. The brain probably bases what will happen next off of what is currently happening in the dream. This is how sequence is born.
Well im not saying i dont believe in control, but maybe the feeling of control is only an illusion because you know you're dreaming?
you could say the same thing about life -_-
Holy...yes i can! this philosophy stuff is weird!
Yea i hate all the 'wat if' statements.
We can only go on the current evidence and logic that we have.
The evidence is that there are over 14 thousand members on this forum, most of whom beleive in lucid dreaming and dream control, and many of whom claimed to have had lucid dreams and used dream control.
The Logical conclusion would be to say that both lucidity and dream control exist.
I have a "theory". Maby dreams are made when the brain tests the new connections. It's like this. You experience another day, the neurons make new connections, maby destroy some old ones etc. At night the brain strengthens the new connections then tests them in some sort of a virtual reality or dream. That could be an explanation why there are some things from the day in the dream.
Im GUESSING no.1
are you saying theres people who say that LDs are not real, that theyre a made up myth?
Maybe yes maybe no I have no idea.
What I think is that when you're dreaming.. (when not aware about it) your brain registers it as a normal situation and makes crazy things happen. But, since you're dreaming, and the fact that these things are often connected to real life, (like a tv show you saw) you think it's the most logical thing that could have happened, because you aren't in control of your mind.
we THINK we're in control, but we aren't IRL
A dreams flow usualy starts from weak HI where things that look like beams of light flow past your eye lids, you could see a roundish ball of light and think of it as a exercise ball, and then see it, then think of an exercise ball being in gym and then you are in a gym, and a gym is at your school so you must be at school, it kind of goes on like this, we all have dream control, it comes from expectency, so it makes perfect sense, I don't think the mind plans the dream out before it happens.
I agree with this. It goes along with the whole stream of consciousness idea. You form ideas and scenarios based off various stimuli, and you form a narrative. This is why dreams are so sporadic and dynamic, because what might remind you of the book you were just reading one minute, might make you think of your pet dog from when you were a kid the next minute.
I can't believe that people are skeptical over a proven FACT!
