Have you ever tried training yourself in a Lucid Dream?

Hey, I haven't had a Lucid Dream myself, but I'm trying and very interested in them because I was thinking I could practise my taekwondo in my dreams, so I can become better really fast ^^

There's been this scientifical experiment, where one group of people has to practise this skill, by just thinking about it, repeating it in their minds, and also doing a bit of field practise, but not so much as the second group. The second group did only practise the technique in the field. And the results were, that the first group did much better! So this means, you can practise something, get better at something by just thinking about it.

Theres been another experiment, where people have to imagine playing piano.. and over time, just by thinking about it and never even playing piano, the brain region which controls their fingers got bigger and bigger.. and when they were finally put to the test, they performed alot better than other people who played piano for the first time.

Also, I read somewhere, one of the theories of evolution and dreams, is that in dreams your neuron pathways that define your skills and abilities are getting 'retrained', and thats the purpose of dreaming. Because, if you think about it, howcome everyone knows by nature how to fuck? I mean, you don't have to learn it, you already know how to. Theres scientists who claim, that in your dreams, those basic primitive neuron pathways are being ran over each night, so that you keep your primitive instincts.

So the purpose of dreaming is reprogramming your brain?

Anyway, I was thinking, if you can practise something by just thinking about it, you should be able to practise something in your lucid dreams too.. and maybe much more efficient. Like when you study something, right before you go to bed, you will remember it much better! Thats because you dream about it I think.

Anyone who has any experience with this, or anyone who practises some skill in his dreams?

I haven't, but it sounds like I can learn parkour (freerunning) from this! For freerunning you need lots of different athletic skills, so just by having fun in your dream, you can become an athlete!

I think your muscle co-ordination might get a bit better, i also heard about that experiment with the two sports teams, and now I think I should start practicing my karate in my dreams :)

There have been many threads about this, but I don't see how this would work. In a lucid dream, since you control everything, you could be doing something wrong that you are practicing, but it would appear perfect. When you tried it in waking life, it would fail.

Of course it could work, but it seems unlikely.
