      dream signs.

      so dream signs. everyone has their own specific one? if so. how do i determine what my dream signs are.
      im already at the stage where i remember my dreams every single night. in major detail as well.
      the only things that i may consider as a dream sign is;
      when im driving a car it just seemed to have no power or didnt want to start.
      but in the dream on the 2nd or 3rd time i try. the car starts lol. so its a bit hard to try & convince myself in a dream that im actually dreaming. when im trying to train myself that when something doesnt work i should suspect that im dreaming.

      Hi, I think the light switch dreamsign is the best. You can train yourself to do reality checks by turning on the light switch in your house and see if they work or not. If they don't or blow when switched on, do a reality check. Over time, failing lights will become your new dreamsign. It has worked 90% of the time for me.

      First off, welcome to DV!

      Starting up a dream journal is a good way to find your dream sign(s). After you have a good amount of dream written down, that span over some time, look through it and look for similarities, like common themes, locations and people.

      To give you an example, let's say you have kept your dream journal for a few weeks, and you notice that you on several occasion have dreamt that you're in a mall. Then that would be a dream sign, and it would then be a good idea to do a reality check every time you're in a mall.

      So far you mention the car, so you can already start with doing reality checks every time you're in a car.

      I hope this helps!

      My dream sign is my dog, who we had to put to sleep 3 years ago. She is in my dreams quite often, and two days ago I was walking and thinking about dreams and suddenly realized, "Whoa! She's one of my dreamsigns!" I had a lucid dream that night, because she showed up in my dream

      For me she's a good dream sign because it's impossible for her to even exist, except in dreams. So it's almost a guarantee. Also, once I become lucid I get to hug her again

      Try to think of something similar. A lot of my dreamsigns are things where I kept telling people, "It's so weird! so-and-so just keeps showing up in my dreams!" You shouldn't try to check your dream sign as an RC, it should just be a signal to do other RCs. Light switches always work in my dreams. Last night in a non-lucid I couldn't defog the windshield of my bicycle (wtf). I'm iffy about machine RCs. They work properly the majority of the time for me.

      Welcome, welcome, Yas.

      Like luminoous said, its very helpful to keep a dream journal. Sometimes your dream signs can be surprising. They can be minor things in the dream that you never would have noticed or remembered unless you wrote it down. They can even be vague things like emotions, colors, or sounds.

      If you want some good examples, try reading through some people's online dream journals. A lot of people hi-light their dreamsigns in different colors to help notice them.
