Does anyone have extremely vivid recall?

For as long as I can remember from my childhood I've been able to recall dreams so vividly that I can remember conversation, colours of objects, exact places and also emotions felt during the whole experience.

For about 10 years now I've been able to make decisions and know that the dream doesn't have physical limitations... and so I am able to fly/float/move objects etc.

Does anyone else have something similar to this?

I'm a professional creative designer, perhaps the fact I am in a job where I'm constantly visually observing, drawing and documenting my experiences as a designer that I have such a vivid imagination and memory?

Yes if you could please that would be great. I'm going to start keeping a dream diary this week and see how it goes. Most of my dreams involve falling, things crashing, getting lost places, flying, being chased, ex girlfriends. But we will see how it goes!

I've always had a natural dream recall and vividness ... and I never thought much of it... it just seemed always normal to me. I can still remember the conversation word for word in the dreams I had and the environment around me. I as well am able to recognize that are no physical limitations (when lucid) which allows me to fly, go through walls etc.

same here. If I think back long enough I could probably remember dreams in full detail that I had months and months ago.
Some nights I can't remember my dream at all, but it's pretty much black and white with me. Either I remember every little detail of the dream, or I dont remember anything at all.

I have had vivid recall of dreams I've had years ago sometimes. Like ex. I can remember almost being run over by a car in a dream when I was 7.

But recently, my recall has been eeh due to all the crap I have to do.

I have very vivid recall for some dreams, no memory of dreaming most days, and very few just-kinda-there dreams. Conversations are always word-for-word, and colours too, even the glasses somebody may be wearing. Unfortunately, I'm rarely lucid, and my dreams usually abide by the laws of physics (though not always...). A friend of mine is interested in dream interpretation, and the only reason I realized that this was a gift of mine was when I heard her descriptions of dreams that were very vague, never with exact conversation. My mother often has short dreams with good recall, though not as strong as mine. I have a semi-photographic memory, so perhaps that helps with my dream recall. I also make sure to write down any dreams I feel are important as soon as I wake, or if I can't do it in the morning, I revies them to myself and explain them to others to help me remember through the day. I dont have extremely long-term memory of dreams, only a few days with exact details, but I can probably remember most of it if I try.

It depends what dream, and mostly how much sleep I get. With about 8-9 hours of sleep, I can basically recreate the dream in my head, with every detail. So I guess I have good recall, but it's not natural (or at least I don't think it is), since my recall was pretty bad until I started keeping a dream journal. I often can't write the whole dream since I remember so much.

I'm also able to pretty much vividly recall all of my dreams.

It's usually right when I wake up when I can recall them. I can recall all the events, might take a minute to get past the mental blocks, but after that I remember how I felt.

Last night I had a VERY vivid dream, I remember it well too. I was playing on a piano, everything was sooooo clear, probably my most vivid, I could hear the right note from each key, and I was just playing stuff. Nothing more than I can in real life, but ya. I could see the light reflecting off each key. Also probably helped though I was on my piano for like 3 hours before I went to sleep :P

I can usually remember though, feelings, dialouge, location, people, plot, and the lighting, and more. It's weird, but it's getting a lot better ever since I've been keeping a dream journal.

(P.S. I haven't had a lucid, ignore my thread, I figured out it was just a dream of me being lucid :S sucks I know, but only makes me wonder how vivid a lucid will be :D)

I'm a designer too, and I've noticed that when I have a full day of overloading on designing, my dreams get that hyper vivid quality. I think you're right on with the connection. Maybe keeping that spatial reasoning and visual part of your brain active all day carries over to your sleep.

So stop teasing us, and start a dream journal, already. It will make your dreams even better.

Have you had any lucid dreams? Ever tried designing real-time in a dream? Its like working with a whole team of designers more talented than you, and the best 3d modeling program ever made.

in my dreams, sometimes I accept that there are no physical limitations, but it really truly depends on what my dream is about. Sometimes I dream about being able to fly and stuff, and sometimes I just do it and accept that I can. I am always aware of what's going on, just not really too concerned with why I can do these things. Sometimes I just do them like I said earlier, and sometimes I don't do them unless a DC does them first. They don't exactly tell me what we're about to do, I just kind know that I'm about to run through a wall or something. On that note, I just realized that usually i'll think about something and then it will happen in the dream. Which I never of course think is odd while I'm dreaming, so I barely ever go lucid. I probably have about 100 opportunities to become lucid every night but never care enough to question anything. I also have very vivid recall but only to a certain extent

Well, my recall varies depending on certain things. But generally yeah, I get extremely vivid dreams. It's like being in hyper reality. I guess thats why I love it so much.

And the things you describe doing are great fun. They are common activities of many Lucid Dreamers.

I'm a visual artist too. I think it's not so much about memory but rather the ability to know how to see things. If you know how shapes, light and colour work, if you can't help but noticing things like texture and perpective, your mind is bound to apply all that knowlege to building your dreamworld.
I'm a regular dream tourist! :D I'm always visiting fictional places - including towns - that are entirely created by the dream. I never get over how amazingly real they look. And I'm talking normal dreams. Can't wait to break the barrier... :drool:

i've had vivid recall and vivid memories since before the age of 1 and i'm 20 now and i can still remember them, but up until the past few years i thought being aware while dreaming was just a common part of it, although i wasnt Lucid dreaming in every single dream.. However recently I am able too.

I can recall multiple dreams (3-5) every night if I keep a journal and make an effort.
