That's a great idea Arby. :)
That would be so cool.... how do you make a face book app?
Facebook deleted my account, so I couldn't use it. :(
Instead, someone should create a new website just for dream journals!
Each person could have a profile page, and when another user showed up in your dreams, you could link to their page!
Oh, that would be the COOLEST website. I would join for sure.
Click the dev(developer's) link in the first post. It requires HTML and PHP, both which I'm not very proficient in.. =/
I like the integration with facebook because a) it has a HUGE privacy backend that can be customized ad infinitum in multiple different ways. You can control EXACTLY who can read your DJ. b) if you publish stories to the news feed, people's friends will learn about it and it will spread virally. c) DJs should be a personnel supplement thing with the ability for people to read and comment on it. Therefore, inside a facebook profile is the perfect place for them =P
That is a good idea...I don't use Facebook myself but I've heard rumors that some people do.
;)
I know a little HTML and PHP but not enough to make an app like that (I'm talking "Hello World" type proficiency lol)...although I'll take a look at it and see what would be required.
I personally would never use it. The people I am friends with on facebook, I don't want reading my dream journal anyways. I like the relative anonymity of dreamviews (anonymity on the internet isn't real, I know, I know). I also think that facebook has too many applications as is :(
I think it would be a great idea. But I agree with shift on my personal usuage of it. I don't keep a dream journal even here, and i am for sure don't want any of my friends on facebook being able to read my dreams. I can ony think of two people on these fourms that I would maybelet read my dream journal but that's about it.
but the idea is great and I know not everyone thinks like this so to the ones who want their dreams being shared I say go for it!
I know that some people here are saying they would not use such a Facebook application, but let's face it there are probably thousands who would use it. People's propensity to write out all sorts of embarrassing things on blog posts and the like would surely transfer to a dream journal app.
It would be good if the app contained a dynamic "Lucid Dreaming Technique" of the day embedded in the menu, that sort of gave a basic LD technique in a small paragraph. This would spread the awareness of lucid dreaming and probably get more people interested in it.
Yea, but I'm not interested in reading the dream journals of the average person, just as I am not interested in reading their blogs...
I agree with luciddream, I think it would be much better to have a website where you could start your own account. Essentially livejournal, but more integrated to where others can easily browse and comment/share tips.
Either way, there should be the ability to categorize entries as lucid and non-lucid, besides the confusing color-coding that people use for their journals on here. Or maybe a way to insert notes and comments about your own dream within the entry, to where it clearly stands out. The ability to upload and insert photos into your entries.
That's fine, but the point of this app wouldn't be for your own personal amusement, but to find ways to introduce more people to the ideas behind lucid dreaming. Hell, I'm not interested in reading anyone's dream journal either (be they an "average" person or a...superhuman?)
I'm just saying, an app like that would be a good way to spread info about LDing (as would a website like you mentioned).
Oh yea, neither am I. I just think that it's better if dream journals are anonymous. I'd be more likely to edit mine if I knew that people who could identify me could read it. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way. You could be more true in your own dream journal if you just kept it offline, or had it on a totally separate website, than on one where people who knew you had easy access to it. I may actually just start one on livejournal or something since I'm so lazy about writing it out by hand.
oh and by average person I meant those people who write crazy things in their blogs. There are some things about my friends that I would just prefer not to know! Especially if it takes place in the lawless realm of their minds. *shudder*
if it was open to everybody, we LDers would be hot shit. our dreams would be so much better than everyone else's (not that it is a contest but...I WIN).
go to facebook and search My dreams... click on the application tab
http://www.dreamjournal.net/
oooo just realized, facebook app not just e-dreamjournal
