WILD question
so, im pretty sure i know what it means, is a wild where you pretend to fall asleep, until your bodt goes into paralysis, then you wait a bit to be pulled into a dream while alert? around that?
well i tried it unsuccessfully last night, and today i read somewhere that you need to sleep a bit, then have your alarm wake you up, then try to WILD ?
is this true? and if so, is there a certain amount of time you need to sleep before you can try this,
and a side note, if this isnt true, can you just try it as soon as you jump into bed?
thanks in advance
cheers

I would recommend reading up some of the tutorials, all of your questions are usually answered several times within every post <_<. A wild is usually not something that you can accomplish unless you know what you are doing, I'll answer your questions quick but I would suggest reading almost everything in the tutorials section :)
This is a good one:

Basically when you wild, you consciously fall asleep, you are completely aware as your body relaxes and you doze off (Usually immediately into a LD). The severeness of the sleep paralysis and the characteristics of the transition stage varies from person to person, and changes on a nightly basis. All I can say is have a good time, and go into it with an open mind.
WBTB (Wake back to bed) Helps alot when attempting to WILD, because you have already had the majority of your sleep, will sleep lighter (Easier to remain conscious). The time needed varies per person again, try waking up for a bit 4-6 hours after you go to bed, then attempt a WILD.
WILDs are pretty hard to preform first thing at night, at least for me.. Some people can do it regularly, im not one of them.

for me wilding is easiest after 5 hours of sleep. for whatever reason I have never felt sp. I pretty much use the wild method I h&te reality described. I just try to imagine myself navigating and examining objects in a familiar setting until one of the objects appears real then I focus on it and I enter the dream. I usually only attempt to wild for a minute and if it doesn't work I go back to sleep and try to dild until I wake up again and try to wild again. once I wake up from a lucid no matter how it was induced I always try to wild right back into it by reimagining the same scene.

yes Ktalu....WILD is catagorised as a WBTB (wake-back-to-bed technique). Basically, a method that you do after approximately 5-6 hours sleep (although this may differ person to person). THis works because...about 5/6 hours into sleep you will experience your most vivid and lengthy dreams.
The basic principle of WILD is to....keep your mind awake whilst everything else goes to sleep. There are many WILD techniques that achieve this in different ways.
CHECK THE TUTORIAL SECTION! for more help. Having a clear idea is the best way to go.

Maybe you would be interested why is it performed whild WBTB most of the time. I had several experiences with falling asleep in WBTB and they are different. Body responds in different way, i virtually feel it falling asleep. When you fall asleep in the evening your body feels relaxing, but still the feeling is different. The SP doesnt come as easily. Your mind is still on and you have to calm it down first. Even when it is calmed down its still pretty active and listens for percepcions from outer world. When you are in the middle of night your senses are oriented into internal world and they are not as easily distracted with external stimulation. Even you dont feel the urge to feel your body, to hear sounds, to see images from the outside in the middle of the night.
While performing a WILD you always try to move your awareness from conscious focus to subconscious focus (from real world into dream world). This movement is pretty hard at first, but slooooowly you will improve and eventually get your first WILD. Still most of the people percieve is as difficult technique, becouse it has many prerequisites.
I wouldnt await from too much from wild in your first attempts. I would learn it as a suplement to other techniques and later on, it might become your main technique as you get better.
/but maybe... its just my story :D
