i reccomend WILD because when your body is excessivly tired your mind can stay awake easier. try reading up about it on the home page
FILD works best when you're too tired to get up and do anything, or too tired to keep your thoughts in check, like you would have to with WILD
Not to contradict your opinion (everyone's entitled to one), but I would also recommend a period of rest for a few hours prior to attempting a WILD. It's essential for the body to acquire a few hours of non-REM sleep before it can easily slip into REM sleep. While you do dream a little bit prior to the latter, REM-filled stages of sleep, it's not generally as vivid nor as contiguous as dreaming occurring in REM sleep.
So yea, just rest a 3-4 hours, wake up a bit (get a drink, use the restroom, etc), and then lay back down and do the whole WILD routine. Sleeping a bit before hand makes it easier to slip into a dream.
