Should I have gone lucid?

I was having a dream. I realized I was probabally dreaming, but I knew I was in a light sleep and if I did, I would have woken up. I could almost feel my eyelids, as if I was awake but my dreams were still, well, uaa, dreaming. So what should I have done, and what should I do next time? Thanks

If you feel that light sleep, try concentrating on something else instead of the whole waking up concept
I usually rub my hands together, yell "increase lucidity/vividness," and basically those seemed to help alot with staying in my dreams longer
