In the book Control Your Dreams (by Jane Gackenbach - bigtime dream researcher) , she describes people who used lucid dreams to train themselves athletically. In this sense, they were able to learn how to perfect or at least improve athletic skills in the dream-world that they then carried over into waking life.
When you study your exams before you go to sleep, you will dream about it, and you will remember everything much better! Also, theres a studymethod that converts actual facts into dreams, it's called the art of memory, and if you're interested in it, you should check out www.pmemory.com .
