I have never had a lucid dream that i can remember, but i read is some posts people say they are like 50% lucid or 90%.
Wouldnt you either be 100% or 0%???

Its a good question but sometimes you become lucid in ur dreams and cannot control everything or you can even slip back into a dream. I have done this not so long ago i was having fun in a lucid and then im talking to some woman and i even said in my dream wtf im i doing then i lost lucid and fell back into the dream.Quote:

partial lucidity, is when I think that you know that you are dreaming on a base level, but are still partially influenced by the delusion of the dream.
For example, you could be lucid, but still be fearful of a dream lion, even though you recognise that this is a dream and there is no reason to be fearful.
Although even being "completely" lucid may not necessarily mean that you have 100% dream control. Consciousness and control over the dream are two distinctive things. You can be 0% lucid and still have complete dream control and play “God”, or know all the way down to your toes that you are in a dream but barely be able to control anything, even your body in the dream. However, if you are "100%" lucid, you can rationalize in your dream and if something isn't working the way you want it to, you can sometimes work around it.Quote:

Ya Shift, I definitely agree. During non lds I sometimes have great control over the dream, though theres no conscious intent, and during some lds I have little control of the dream, just conscious intent in my own thoughts and actions. I'm glad you put a 100% in quotes, because obviously awareness can't really be measured by percentage.
I have had experiences where I was in a dream and knew I had 'powers', could use them, but I didn't fully comprehend that I was dreaming. I have also had situations where I knew I was dreaming, but could not recall anything from the waking world. One time I even had a full-on lucid dream with the strange exception that I wasn't a character. The DCs couldn't perceive me, yet I controlled them and the environment. So there are a lot of ways to be 'partially' lucid.
To have a lucid dream simply means to realize you are dreaming.
That does not mean to realize you are dreaming...
and to have super powers
and to realize that since it is a dream nothing can hurt you
and to notice all the illogical stuff
and to be able to exert god-like control over the DCs and enviornment
and to breathe under water
OR whatever else you may assume LDing means.
LDing simply means to realize you are dreaming while in a dream. That is is.
So, people often call LDs where they have no control, are afraid of stuff, ect a "semi-lucid" or a "low-level lucid."
I am only satisfied with my lucid dream when it is life like, i.e. I get the full sensory perception of being there.
On occasions I know I am dreaming but the visual aspect is not so detailed and vivid or I may not have the sensation of touch etc. In cases like these I generally get the feeling that the whole experience is fairly weak.
I agree with seeker28 about the definition of lucid dreaming, but it's just easier to say something like "I was about 50%" lucid rather than explain how the experience was lacking.
I think other lucid dreamers know what we mean when when we use this terminology, so as far as I am concerned it's a valid and useful way of expressing ourselves :)

Strangely, no. Your mind is never fully awake when dreaming, or you would probably wake up. There's always going to be dream elements. A low level of lucidity means that you're partly aware and slipping in and out of consciousness. A high level means that you have good control.Quote:
