Why can I still move after sleep paralysis?

After relaxing and focusing a while, I entered an intense vibrational stage. My body was unable to move and I heard a constant humming noise in my head. After a few seconds I eventually ended up feeling nothing. I tried to move my hands, but they moved!!!!!! I did a reality check on my hands and the clock, nothing absurd is around. I thought I failed so I entered sleep normally. The funny thing is, I entered a DILD instead of a WILD, or was WILDing all along?Do some of reality checks taught on the site don't work on some people because hands and clocks are stable in their dreams?

Well, for me most of dream things are stable, so I don't do RC. For the other thing, I don't know.

When I get into sleep paralysis, I can still move, there just seems to be something telling me that I shouldn't.

Like, I was trying to WILD a while ago, got to sleep paralysis, but when I didn't seem to be going anywhere I was able to roll over and go to sleep normally.

Yeah, I felt kinda like I was in SP but tried to move a finger or something and it still moved. I REALLY got into it one time and when I gave up on it, my body felt really heavy and almost stiff.

Most newb WILDers don't experience true SP. Sleep paralysis isn't supposed to last very long--only a minute or two. Some don't even experience it. Often, the aspiring WILDer will induce a sort of fake sleep paralysis. My advice is to keep trying, but don't think about sleep paralysis at all. Definitely keep trying if it became a DILD!

One great reality check to use is nose pinching. If you can still breathe, you are dreaming! This should work because you'll feel your actual breath patterns. The only times it won't work is if your nose is stuffy, you breathe out of your mouth, or you forget what a failing reality check means (as in, you come to the wrong conclusion that you are awake).

I recommend that because yes, clocks and hands can look fine in dreams. Digital clocks tend to screw up often in mine, if I do a double take. This may vary with others, though.

That actually sparked a last second DILD last night. Read my DJ for more, but as I was drowning, and realized I could breath. Then I woke up just as I realized I was in a dream. Dangit.

Abra's absolutely right. I see a lotta people on DV talking about experiencing sleep paralysis when it's not. Not being able to move is the only definitive way to know that you are experiencing it. Vibrations or whatever don't mean anything if you can still move. However, you don't need to notice SP in order to WILD.

The goal is to disconnect from body, if you want to have WILD. But how can you disconnect from body, if you are aiming for SP transition, which is pretty intensive sensation.

You will wild, when your internal perception becomes stronger than your external one {so to say... you forget about your body}.
