So, last night I was dreaming as usual, pretty random stuff. Then, it's almost as if my dream skipped ahead, but for some reason I knew I could hurt myself, so I hung myself in the dream, and my dream self wasnt surprised I was still alive. It was really strange. I remember thinking that pain wasnt a factor, but never saying to myself that I was dreaming. (For some reason in this dream I was dressed as a Bad Ass Greaser)
You should talk to a psychiatrist about your suicidal thoughts.

One way I know I am lucid, is if I say to myself "I am dreaming" or somehow, know I am dreaming.
It could have been a lucid dream, and it was just a very low level of lucidity.
I have dreams where I do things, or things are happening and I, for some reason, know it's just a dream (or at least hope so, ;) ), yet don't realize I am lucid. For instance, last night, in one of my dream fragments, I was walking along a sidewalk with my sister and looked at my reflection through one of the windows of a shop. My front tooth had a crack going from the top of my gum to the bottom of my tooth, and I freaked out thinking it would fall out. I was walking along hoping I was dreaming, yet not realizing I was really dreaming and not saying to myself 'I am dreaming'. I woke up, and after I fell back to sleep, I did end up becoming lucid.
I think your dream is a start to becoming lucid.:)
