I swear my dreams are out to get me XD

I mean they are making an active effort to prevent me from getting lucid.

The other night I had a dream in which I noticed a movie playing. It was an Audrey Hepburn movie (classic movie actress). I'm thinking "wait a second...I know what all her movies are like...I don't recognize this at all..." Camera zooms in...oh, it's not Audrey Hepburn, it's Julie Andrews! Well that explains a lot ...of course the hair changed to suit Julie Andrews -.- Not to mention the obvious face change, even if I had only seen Audrey's face from a distance.

      There's a difference! It's quite apparent!

Just last night I had a dream in which I was sitting in with this jazz band (I'm a trumpet player irl) and I look at the music we're about to play, look at the key signature (says what notes are flat or sharp) and I have no flats or sharps. My first note is a B. We start and I play my note and it's horribly dissonant. The guy next to me points out that there's a B flat in the key signature. I look and sure enough there it is! I didn't see it before because it was jammed between the treble clef and the time signature...I wonder why this had happened...but it never clicked, never clicked...

I know the feeling. The worst for me is when I have a false awakening and I'm the wrong house! At least you are questioning things in your dreams. Maybe you should make a habit of everytime you think/say "Wait a second..." you do a reality check.

      Yea, that's something to try.

Something particularly annoying, that I wish would have more often so that maybe I could've have had a DILD by now , is that this isn't the first dream where I've seen Audrey Hepburn in a movie which is totally unfamiliar. See, I'm a big fan of hers, and she only made around 20 movies, all of which I know a thing or two about, many of which I've seen. So when I see her in a movie that's unfamiliar, it really should make me click

Unfortunately she doesn't show up very often in my dreams...not very often at all...

I agree, if you get that feeling that you may be dreaming, do an RC.
For me its different. There is no "I may or may not be dreaming", it either hits me all at once, or doesn't hit me at all.

I haven't gotten as far as thinking "maybe I'm dreaming?..." I'm usually just thinking "wtf?"

The few times I had semi-lucids before coming to this forum, it usually involved a tornado.

I live in the suburbs in NJ, so we don't get any. I look at them, then say "Oh, that can't be real. I'm asleep!"

...I then would proceed to close my eyes, reopen them, and wake up...

...this was when I was younger, and I'm still kicking myself for not "exploring."

I'm kinda kicking myself for not exploring an almost successful accidental WILD I had

See, Dad woke me up early-ish because we had to be somewhere, but I was feeling freaking tired and wanted to sleep...and I did fall asleep, and was quickly falling into a dream. I was lying down but above and around me, instead of my room, it was like there was a dreamy bright light. Then I heard Mom tell me to get up, so I was thinking ok I better wake up. I think I pretty much knew it was a dream

I felt the sleep paralysis as I was making myself wake up. It was so weird, and made waking up kind of hard. I lifted up my arm after Mom told me to wake up, and saw my arm lift, but I could feel that my real life arm was paralyzed...and I knew it was just my dream arm that I saw lift. I tried harder and finally the paralysis wore off and I woke up. Why I didn't try instead to go into a full dream state is beyond me.

The really trippy thing is that Mom wasn't even awake yet...her voice was hypnagogic imagery...
