Semi-lucid?...weird
So I had a DILD, kinda. I was wandering through a store looking for a Monster Energy drink (this is entirely thanks to my friend John the Monster addict ). Anyway I couldn't find it anywhere in the store (turns out it was a beauty product store)...which made me wonder why I had one in my hand anyway
That one was almost empty so I threw it away, then I thought "this is a dream, obviously, I can just summon another one." That didn't work, however. Summoning, I imagine, takes a lot of experience and willpower/confidence in the...permanence of the dream (right word?).
See, while I was lucid, I felt like I wasn't entirely there...it still felt like a non-lucid in fact, except this was quite more noticeable since I was lucid. It felt like it was weak, like I might lose it and awake at any time.
I hardly even had control over my own thoughts, much less the ability to summon a Monster. I didn't think, "hey, I'm lucid, I can do whatever I want! I don't want to summon a Monster, that's stupid"
Hell, I think it was pretty much like I had a non-lucid dream in which for awhile I was thinking I was lucid, as part of the non-lucid dream...if that makes sense.
Anyway, I lost the semi-lucidity soon after the failed Monster-summoning.

It is true that if you know you're dreaming you can just step back and say that anything you were trying to do is pointless. However, you can regress even more and say that interacting with the dream world at all is pointless, but that doesn't get you anywhere.
Think of it like playing a video game. You know the game isn't real. You know there's no real reason you need to beat the game. But you play anyway, right? So just because you didn't pull a Neo and start seeing green code all over the walls, doesn't mean you weren't lucid.

You were lucid, you knew you were dreaming. Control has nothing to do with it I don't think.

Thanks ^_^
Hey, I made progress, it's all good :D

Yeh Licity is correct, as long as you knew it was a dream then you were lucid. If it was to do with control then I don't think any of my lucid dreams would count.
