I have never had an induced lucid dream before (Though I got close last night) and I was wondering if you are restricted to places you are familiar with or if you can essentially create your own areas to explore.

You're only restricted by your imagination. There was a challenge on here a while ago where you had to fly to different planets in the solar system. I believe someone got to mars even though they have never actually been to mars (I'm assuming anyway :P), so yeah. Anywhere you want to ge you can.

I've heard that some people have had LDs in which they went to a place they had never been before, but then went there in real life..
but i'm a bit skeptical about that one..
