When attempting a WILD does it matter if you swallow?
Do you mean like when you're laying down and there's excess spit in your mouth? Because that happens to me and I feel distracted by it until I swallow, but even then I am still not as relaxed as I was before because I've moved. I'm curious too! Well, if this is what you're referring to, anyway.
I've heard this discussed before, and answers vary. For me, at first it was annoying but, you don't sit all day long and think when you swallow right? It's automatic. If it occurs to you laying there with darkness and your mind as your only companions on the path to your WILD, then do it. Just do it, don't give it any thought. If you lay there and think "did I screw it up?" for 5 minutes then that's what actually will mess you up. I suppose you could just lay there and drool, but wouldn't that be distracting and sticky?
Haha, yeah, as I was laying in bed last night I sort of came to this same conclusion, that we never consciously swallow during the day, so why should it bother us at night.. at the same time, though, we don't typically remain motionless during the day either, so it feels a little strange to break the pattern just so we don't get drooly/mucus-y/whatever-y.
Leixor has a great point. My mouth is so dry in the morning that I usually don't need to swallow when WILDing, but when I do, I give it no though, and then it doesn't break my attempt.
Swallowing will not affect WILDING because your body swallows in the night anyway without you even knowing, if you resist to swallow then your brain will know that you are awake and trying to resist to swallow, so just naturally swallow and all will be good. :D
IDK guys. I was so close to WILDing this morning.
I swallowed right at the beginning of the dream after SP was complete and it woke me up!!!
its probably because you thought "oh no, I swallowed! its going to wake me!".
Swallowing never stops me falling asleep.
I thought during the early stages of sleep your mouth is dry and during the later stages of REM your mouth starts to make saliva again. Maybe, maybe not, w/e
