Question for lucid masters

I need help deciding if this was technically a lucid dream. This happened to me about a month ago but i was thinking about it it i guess it could be a lucid dream but im not sure because im new to the whole lucid dreaming stuff.

So around a month ago, I was sleep deprived so i was really tired ( played to much video games that day). So I went to bed in the living room in the couch because it was closest to the air conditioner. So when i was going to bed i began to become aware of of a sound out side , i stood still to see what it was and suddenly a cat jumps out and freaks me out. After that incident i became stressed and very aware of little stupid sounds. (What happens next is hard to explain so bare with me). I tried to relax and fall asleep and i feel asleep faster than i have ever fallen asleep, but then i felt pressure all over my body. I tried to move and i couldn't I was paralyze. I then saw a cat walking on my body. I kept trying to move my arms but they were stiff. I finally 'woke' up and was able to move. I then continued to go to sleep and not more than 10 seconds later i became paralyze again and this time i saw a huge bold eagle in the living rooms table. I saw it sooo detailed i was hallucinating because i knew i wasnt dreaming, but i was still paralyze. I continued to hallucinate later into the night, seeing a little boy running around and stuff. It was really scarry.

I did my research on this and found out that, when your really tierd and are stressed, you can enter the REM stage abnormally fast when going to bed. So my body responded by making me paralyze, normal thing to protect you from acting your dreams out. Only thing was that i was still conscious, so yeah . Kinda sounds opposite of a lucid dream, being lucid from consciousness instead of falling asleep and then becoming lucid. But is it technically a lucid.

Sounds like intense hypnagogia paired with sleep paralysis.

That is know as a WILD (wake induced lucid dream) were the body stays concious but you fall asleep.
wen u become lucid halfway through a dream its called a DILD (dream induced lucid dream).
aparently the halucinations are a normal wen have a WILD dream

Yeah but the thing is i never really "fell" asleep to wake up from it. I fell on the couch and 7 seconds later i was hallucinating strongly and had total body paralysis. And every time it happen it would happen right after i closed my eyes like less than 10 seconds , so i didn't have time to fall asleep -go through the first couple of sleep cycles then enter the REM stage were you dream in.

the part were the body freezes and you start hallucinating is part of the SP (sleep parylis) stage in WILD which happens right before the REM stage. so u werent really asleep wen u were hallucinating

Yeah i was fully conscious, thats why i was so freaked lol. I have had sleep paralysis before but that was the first time with hypnogic hallucinations.

The REM cycle thing isn't a hard and fast rule. Especially since you were not on your normal sleep patterns, you could have messed with the usual sequence of events - this is why a lot of people like to WILD during a nap in the afternoon. Additionally, hypagogia can be experienced before NREM or REM sleep.

Ah i see, haha they are definitely something tho. I remember just staring at that giant bald eagle, it was such a clear hallucination. But that little kid later on the night freaked me out !

Yes, you experienced hypnagogia. That occurs often in SP. So I would say that you made it all the way into the dream though. SP can be pretty freaky and bring about a lot of weird scary shit so what you have to do is try to relax during and through this stage in order to make it all the way into the dream. If you keep startling yourself, then you wont make it past SP.
But you will know when you've made it past SP and entered the dream; it feels like a sudden rush of falling through you bed, ceiling, walls or all of the above. I promise, you even might learn to like it like myself and aa lot of WILDers:) have.

There's no way to know if it was actually a dream or not unless you did a reality check (sometimes i dream of myself being paralyzed in my bed......)

It doesn't feel like that for everyone, for example for me it's more like turning on a really old movie projector, but i definitely learned to love the feeling :D

Oh wow so all those times i had SP when I was little I was really close to becoming lucid!? Dang it ! If only i knew hahaha, i seriously thought i was being possesed by some entity or something back then and up until i started researching the subject.

Wow, I thought the feeling of SP was universal. Buts that's cool that you enter your dreams kind of like through a movie.

Yep. And I thought the exact same when I was younger going through SP too. It was scary as hell having Billy the Kid stand next to your bed when you're only 11 years old, lol.
