Recurring dream locations NEVER BEEN THERE!

There are some recurring locations in my dreams that I constantly go to:

      - a nightclub
      - a beach
      - a residential neighborhood

stuff like that. But I'm sure I've _NEVER_ been to these places.

Anybody have similar experiences as this and come up with any kind of explanation / rationale for it?

It's never had to me personally but it could just be that your mind is making the place up and I suppose that everyone's had a dream where they've been to a place that they have never been to (awake) before but I suppose that it's just the same thing but recurring...

This happens to me all the time, actually it happened to me in a dream this morning. There are about 6 or 7 places where about 75% of my dreams take place.

Yeah, I'm the same way Brady, good way of putting it. You just have to think there's something more significant to those places than just being random though. I mean, I can tell you VERY minute details about some of those places, right down to the colors of the street signs.

Those three locations could be your dream signs

Yeah I think that the places in my dreams are pieces of real places that have been mixed together to form a new setting, as well as pieces from setting I've seen on TV and in movies. The places seem sort of familiar, but I've definitely never been to them.

( a year old discussion, but didn't want to start a new one on something that has been discussed before)

I've always had these recurring locations in my dreams, and everytime I visit it, something new is added to it. (another street, another part of a forest) and eventually, these locations got together, so now I have this large city, to the north a beach and some forests, then a very wild ocean, and then a desert, some mountains and behind those is a rain forest with a very strange amusement park, which is also accessable from a highway. sometimes it feels that I am lost or alone in a part of this world, and other times I feel like they're different parts of a large computer game, in which I am the main character, so same place(s), other theme

I also often dream that I am in my home, but I try to hide myself, or I am just exploring it and then I find a secret room, which has never been used, but is completely decorated and even has a balcony, which was somehow never noticed outside.

these recurring locations have only appeared in non lucid dreams.

does anyone else have such a complex recurring dream world?

Absolutely! You just descibed the nature of about 90% of the dreams I remember, and I don't think any of them were lucid. Not only have mine grown connected to each other, but also to my real-life neighborhood. (Which actualy, I guess is just another of those recurring dream sceneries) I LOVE finding thos secret passages! That's always a thrill! What's realy interesting is when I dream up a recurring location that I have never visited, but that my parent have, before I was born!

That happens to me all the time, i have quite a few reaccuring locations that i have never been to, its pretty cool/interesting. One for example is like my old highschool, its similar on the outside, but i always get lost or find new locations, and even though i have no use for it anymore i still find myself there in my dreams.
