Is it ok that I am teaching a bunch of people at my school about LDing?

I sent an e-mail to about 20 people. So far 1 person said she has some experience herself, I sent her some links to tutorials to this site. Another person said he was interested. And the last person said she would never want the control her dreams. Idk why.

Oh yea. And there are two other people. I told my two best friends. One of them has had two DILDs now, and the other started a DJ.

I fell happy for myself. Are we trying to recruit people, or keep it to oursleves? I kinda don't want my whole school to start talking about it >.<

I don't think it would be one of those things people would talk about in school.

Unless they had a weird dream, and then they might just be like "Yeah I had this weird dream..."

But people do that all the time.
I think it's fine and awesome that you're getting people into LDing.

Ok. I conjured up and e-mail with a bunch of link to tutorials and stuff. That is what I send to people that tell me they want to learn how to lucid dream. The friend who said she had experience said that she didn't know it was called lucid dreaming or anything. They were completley natural, and she figured out how to DILD and remember her dreams on her own. Pretty cool =)

When I was little, I tried some autosuggestion (w/o knowing it)

I would say to myself before I went to sleep "If only I could remember that I was dreaming WHILE I was dreaming... I could do w/e I want!" I would say to myself as I was falling asleep "I am dreaming...I am dreaming...I am dreaming..."

Another one of my friends was like (b4 i knew about lucid dreaming) "I though of a way to travel back in time! You see, when you are dreaming, you can do w/e you want right? Well, if I relized I was dreaming, I could go back in time!"

I guess more people are curious about lucid dreaming than we think. The history channel or discovery channel or sci fi channel should do a show about it, then the whole world could share the joy ^.^

What are you doing!?! SPREADING THE TEACHINGS TO THOSE NOT WORTHY IS FORBIDDEN!

Seriously though, I think I speak for everyone when I say that expanding can't do us any harm. Unless you make us out to be crazy cult people.

Haha, I had noticed that too, but was too lazy to change it.

Spreading the word of lucidity is awesome! I know I've informed dozens and dozens of people of the potential of lucid dreaming. People almost always think it's interesting too.

Good idea. Maybe you can get school funding to form some sort of club. This is why we need DV stickers or something.

I just found out one of my roommates is interested in LDing. I'm thrilled to say the least. It's great to have someone you see daily there to motivate you. Now I just have to get her up to speed on how everything works on the forum.

I don't see LDing becoming wide-spread. As amazing as it is, the rearing insecurities of people (WITCH CRAFT EVIL SATAN!!!) , coupled with the amount of effort required will deter most people.

Lucid dreaming is a practice that in my opinion, is something you really have to be dedicated too. Many people would probably try it once or twice, but you have to be completely interested to fully comprehend and appreciate how awesome it truly is.

I think that it's your decision. Other people are going to be coming to this site so you will be sacrificing the privacy of anonymity. I guess it depends on how easy it would be for you to have other people talk about LDing around you, even if the conversation didn't include you. Basically I don't think it would be a problem at all, unless you have a problem with it.

The thing about LDing is... it's personal. You can discuss techniques, and ask questions, and share experiences just as we do on here. But what it boils down to is the neurons in YOUR brain, and no one else's. Because of that I don't think it will ever become as popular socially as something that two or more people can experience together. Would you rather hear about someone's lucid dream in excruciating detail when you can't experience it the way they did, or talk about the football game last night and the save you all saw and who was there and who said what and blah blah? I think on the whole humans are social creatures and most of them value mutual experiences over private ones when it comes to conversations. (notably, not some of the people who are really into this site... there's a reason we keep coming back and then there are those who just want to further their own ability). A fun dynamic though is the fact that in a dream, your DCs (especially if they are of people you know in RL) are going to make it seem like a more social event. It's fun to discuss with people how they acted in your dreams, but some get really disturbed so I guess they really wouldn't like those kinds of convos

On the other hand, I'm addicted to this site and the people on it. I try to be myself. I know that if people I knew were on here and reading what I wrote and knew it was me, I wouldn't be as honest and frank as I am. It would ruin something about it for me. I have talked to a couple of other people about LDing, but not about this site. I just give them all the knowledge and advice that I've learned, and if they have questions I can answer them, and if not I can come on here, research, and answer them. I guess I'm selfish in that way, but honestly it's not that hard to find dreamviews on your own anyway It's ONLY the link on google right underneath the lucidity institute. You can't get much higher up than that!

Why wouldn't it be ok? I got into LDing only after someone told me about it. You'll be doing people a favor.

Would it be bad if I brought a little "Beyond Dreaming" out here? (sorry)

Only because all it is is your neurons firing. But you can do whatever you like or believe whatever you like Far be it from me to tell other people what to believe in, although we do have scientific evidence of dreaming and LDing but none of that beyond dreaming stuff.

      I agree with Shift.

Lucid Dreaming is a personal thing, not something you can spread the word about or keep secret. It's different for different people. Some of us here believe in OBEs and AP and shared dreams, some don't, for instance. Some think sex dreams are best kept to themselves, for some its the best part of dreaming.

I don't bother to advertise. But I do talk about dreams if people want to. Because it interests me.

People may take excessive e-mailing badly. But if you show someone how to do something they enjoy, this must be a good thing.

i like how u have to ask random people on the internet if its 'ok' to do something
      | DILD= 5 | DEILD= 2 | MILD= 4 | WILD= 5 |

I'm also on the fence with this. I think it would be fine to discuss/share with your close knit group of friends, but might not be appropriate to talk about to a large group of school mates.

I think lucid dreaming is something that should be taught in school curriculums, anyways. Lets teach our kids how to actually use their brains.

I think it's a great idea! I'm thinking about doing something similar in my Psychology class.

I almost got excited when my physch teacher in high school mentioned lucid dreaming... But she half-heartedly described Lucid dreaming as being able to choose what you dream about before going to sleep, and she didn't think you could know you were dreaming.

      A swing and a miss.
