Is it possible to dream of having a lucid dream?
I don't think so. By definition all a lucid dream is is one where you are aware you are dreaming. So if you're aware, you're aware. You can't think you're aware and not be. At least that's how I look at it.
Yes, theortically. Its just like dreaming when you're in a dream. I think that was once the task of the month actually. (or it just sounds like it should be.)
EDIT: I think I actually misunderstood. I though you meant while lucid you go to sleep and have a lucid dream, when you said while having a non-lucid dream you dream you are lucid...
I agree with Uriel.
Dreaming in a dream is more or less a pyschological thing. Just because you dream about being in a dream, doesn't mean that's actually what's happening.
because I had a dream where I became lucid but the things I did were not things I would usually want to do...
Here's a quick, simple, yet complicated question that may or may not help you with this;
Did you know you were dreaming?
Dreaming you were dreaming and knowing you were dreaming are 2 entirely different subjects, yet the latter is harder to fully explain, or rather, explain at all, because the feeling of knowing is different for everyone. To be conscious of the dream state; To know you're dreaming; Only then cal it be called a Lucid Dream.
Gah, I think I just went philosophical on myself...
It is very possible to have a dream that you are lucid, without actually knowing that you are in a dream. A lot of people have discussed this on DV, and it is hard to explain unless you've had one. But it is, most definitely, possible and not as rare as one would hope  I hate dreams like that!
I knew i was dreaming, but i think i was only dreaming of knowing
If you knew you were dreaming, then you were lucid. Simple as that.
Yeah I had that the other night and I made a topic on it too see if anyone considered it an actual lucid dream. It's called "Would this count as lucid?". If anyone could check it out and give me your input that would be great.
Are you talking about false awakenings? I've had those before.
But if you dream about having a lucid dream, I bet it would kick your MILD in and tell you that it's time to become lucid.
Perhaps he "knew" he was in a dream, yet didn't realize it. I had a dream once in which I stopped time, rationalizing it aloud as "Since I'm dreaming, I can do that."... yet I didn't turn lucid and just went on with the dream.
And I've had dreams about being lucid as well; it's just like Shift said.
Yes, it is entirely possible. You can be lucid of your dream, but not necessarily your actual life.
Let's put it this way. Real-life is A, dream one is B and dream two is C. C is nested inside B, which in turn is nested inside A, so you are dreaming that you are dreaming.
C is lucid. However, the lucidity of C could well be restricted to being aware that C is inside B, but you don't have to be aware that C is inside B is inside A. You can just realise that C is inside B, and no further, completely unaware of the existence of A.
I believe that this isn't true lucidity, however.
Well I have gone to sleep in a dream, then "dreamt" and become lucid in that dream. Then I have "woken up" to a false awakening. So in a sense it was a lucid dream within a dream. But really, it was a normal lucid dream, preceded and succeeded by two other dreams of falling to sleep and waking up.
i always have dreams about having SP with the ringing in my ears for like 10 seconds and im like.. WOoo yea!! ld here i come, then SP just ends and i lose conciousness
