Can anyone reccommend techniques for ensuring I become lucid?
Its a bit hit and miss at the moment - I usually have to think alot about doing it throughout the day for it to happen. I want to be able to be sure i can make it happen. any tips? :)

Sorry - just found the right please to look.
Try listening to Binaural beats. (Theta ones to be specific). Ensure that the headphones don't come off while you sleep, tie a blindfold that goes over your ears to help.
Works for me. It's still very easy to forget and lose lucidity but it helps for sure.
Youtube binaural beats..it's trippy stuff.
There is no external way of ensuring you become lucid while sleeping. Just keep thinking about it.
be patient. It takes time. you need to try out different techniques because some people are better at certain techniques than others. Give each technique a certain amount of time before moving on to a new one, even if it doesn't work for a few weeks. Stay positive and patient, do reality checks, write in your dream journal, and figure out how you're going to try your techniques, and you'll get it eventually. I can't say which one would ensure you an LD because I don't know how your mind works or the way you sleep. Sorry.
the more you read about it the easier it gets.
you can always learn more about it, lucid food, how the dreaming mind works and so on.
the way i got my first lucids where WBTB and then DILD.
Sorry whats WBTB & DILD? :)
That's like asking someone how to talk.
Everything you do, you do with lucidity to some extent, the level of awareness is your choice whether you choose to be ignorant of that or not.
Point is, to be aware. Increase your awareness with what you can in waking life, non-stop. Whatever wakes you up. Hit yourself if you have to.
...which I happen to have guides on! Here they are: WBTB and DILD
But yeah, laguna and Cloud are right, there's no sure-fire way to induce lucidity. But here's a tip from me: Fall asleep fast. Either make yourself really tired before you go to bed, or do the WBTB mentioned above. I've become lucid that way without even trying sometimes. But that's just me.
