Rubik's cube
I got a Rubik's Cube on Saturday, and since then I've had very vivid dreams. I've spent over half of my waking hours fiddling with the darn thing, to the point where when I close my eyes I can see a realistic Rubik's Cube. I thin it's helped my focus. I just thought I'd post this and see if anyone has a similar experience.

I think what I had this morning may be similar but it was directly before the dream. I have a light that go offs every half an hour and I activated the system at morning when I woke up. When I went back to sleep I was very aware (unintentionally anxious) of the light about to go off and I was very focused on that idea. And in the dream I was able to retain some logical awareness and I was almost lucid too bad the RC din't work...:P. But yeah I think it was the intense focus on the concious mind that resulted in me asking WTF is happening in that dream.

Check out the Tetris Effect ;)

I had a similar experience when I mastered my Rubik's cube (can now solve in 1-3 minutes yay!~) and when I had nothing better to do then play tetris for a few hours :P
I personally think it's a common side effect from thinking about something to an obsessive degree - you think about it so much during the time you're using it (a Rubik's cube in this case) that it invades your sub-conscious thinking and leads to insistent thought about it.:3

I just played a lot of tetris

I get the Tetris Effect whenever I play Tetris for more than about an hour at a stretch, but I've never thought about using it as a focus. I could see this being useful as a visual for a VILD, as it would take almost no work to keep going (assuming you don't mind finding a way to stop cubing/playing Tetris once you're in a dream).

I got this with mindsweeper lol.
Numbers and boxes would appear in my mind and I would click and flag them.
It helped me get a lot better at the game as I would know how to solve every combination almost instantly.
Not sure if I had any dreams about it but I know I couldn't close my eyes without a mindsweeper application opening :P

i think it may be because you are excercising your logical mind alot while ur awake so its more active when dreaming, making the dream seem more real because ur brain is simply concentrating harder on it in a sense.. anyway, thats my theory. but i always find after a day of studying or touch mental activity my dreams are crazy.

Don't know if this is a tetris effect.
When I have played a lot of table football (I play table football in my playtime/school brake at my school :p )
So.. I try to sleep but I cant, because of thoughts of me playing table football jumps around, like my mind has gone "auto-mode" and plays table football with itself.. hehe.
Very annoying sometimes!
3 days ago I made a movement like if I was playing table football, I was goal keeper and the ball came fast, so I had to be quick, my arm made a hypnagogic jerk. Very wierd because I was awake, and had not been dreaming :p
Some years ago when I played a lot of computer games, my mind began to do the "auto-mode", I kept playing Counter-Strike in my mind.. Damnit!
