Physical pains causing me to want to wake up from LDs

I started this thread to describe an experience that has been happening a lot to me recently near the end of my LDs. I begin to have pains in my hips that gradually get worse over time. In a sense the pain feels like it's coming from my sleeping body rather than my dream body, but there is a sort dual awareness. By itself it doesn't cause me to awaken, but the pain gets so annoying over time that I make a conscious decision to wake up because I'm so uncomfortable. When I finally do wake up though the pain is gone...it feels like it only existed in the dream. I'm not in some awkward sleep position where something is pressing against my hips or anything.

This always happens in very long LDs (usually approaching an hour) and has only started since I've been taking supplements like Galantamine, Choline, alpha-GPC, and Mucuna Pruriens. Also the dreams preceding the pain are usually multi-layered with many FAs and even some actual awakenings followed by DEILDs. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this phenomenon, and if so what they have done to get rid of the pain.

Well, I generally feel pain when something bad happens to me in dreams, tough its different, and when the pain is just so bad, waking up and DEILDing is good enough for me.

Since the pain appears to be simply part of the dream I would suggest that you find a way to make the pain go away within the dream, perhaps by taking a pill that makes the pain disappear immediately or even just shouting "pain be gone!".

Whatever you experience is all made-up. That dual sensation is your mind tricking you. Also, I'd stay away from supplements. They can damage natural abillites and cost more.

PSPSoldier...I know you hate supplements but you shouldn't knock 'em until you've tried 'em. I used to think like you did until I opened my mind and experimented a little. Now I'm a much more advanced lucid dreamer than I was before. Even if this pain was caused by the supplements, I would still go on using them because the pain is mild in comparison to the benefit I get from having long, high-level LDs at will. It's a cost-benefit analysis. Anyway you contradict yourself; if the pain is indeed all made-up, I should be able to find a mental solution to the problem within the dream rather than forgo the supplements.

sometimes this happens to me. it's not made up in my case. i have back pain from time to time and lying in one position too long when i'm lucid can pull me out of a dream.
i have this awesome topical cream with GABA and magnesium in it and i often apply it before i go into dreaming. it's by biotronics (i think that's the name). they make a few more great creams. another one with devils claw. they have very little odor so are nice to use in the middle of the night or whenever...
that has really helped me wild or dild and stay in there.

One hour? That is fantastic!

if i feel achy, which isn't always... but if i do... i may put it on at 3 am and reapply if needed at 6 am ... or not at all. it's long lasting. the GABA and mag. put your muscles "to sleep" and are long lasting.

my friends really like it, too!

it's made a real difference in my ld adventures.
