Hey everyone,
I picked up the movie "Waking Life" (2001) last year, and have seen it a few times. It's a great movie about the Dream World, Lucid Dreaming, and they throw some politics, metaphysics, and philosophy in there too.
If you're looking for a good hour and a half, check it out.
Has anyone else seen it?
Yeah ive seen it, pretty good informative film.
I'm pretty sure atleast a quarter of the people on the forum have seen it aswell.
And about half have heard of it...
I own it, but can't find it... I was looking for it recently... Ah well.
Think I watched this on Acid the very first time I saw it. Needless to say it was a very good movie.

I def think it's 2012. Many have been talking about a universal awakening of some sort. The Myans also predicted somehting massive to occur as well. Who knows.Quote:

I've seen it- not bad movie but not too great either. I did love some of the rants though.
The grade 12 English classes at my school have watched it, but since I took English in summer school I won't be. Most os my friends have said it was incredibly boring, although they aren't the type that would like it anyway.

I don't think many people did, but I've heard about a lot of people who fall asleep watching this... Even some friends of mine did...

I thought it was a brilliant movie. Most people who never had a lucid dream, or read any of Phillip K. Dick's writing, or aren't familiar with Richard Linklater's work probably won't get the whole plot of the movie without some schooling or philosophy knowledge of existentialism.
The animation portion of it emphasized the dream aspect of the movie, and the way the animation was done was brilliant also, (in my humble opinion). To bring in several artists to animate over real film their own concepts just brought in variety. But I'm biased that way, I love Richard Linklater's movies, and I was already a big fan of Philip K. Dick, and previous to that I believe in the concept of existentialism. (Most of it anyway, I believe that with the right perception and approach anyone is capable of anything they want, we mostly set up our own boundries out of fear and doubt, myself included).
But the entire premise was great, imo, really deep, strong suggestions on what our subconscious constitutes and the perspective to think outside the box and take the world around you with a certain grain of salt.
I think it's important for everyone to realize and understand that there isn't much out there "can't" do, and to take more responsibility for their own existance without blaming external stimuli for personal failures.
I absolutely loved the movie and how it was animated. It took a little while to get used too, but it was cool nevertheless :P
I found it incredibly interesting. I don't know why I fell asleep though.
