Dreaming is starting to depress me...

I am an extremely talented lucid dreamer, but lately I come to a depressing realization. I get lonely most nights.

In order to enjoy myself, I need the social aspect. Dreaming can't provide that, because even if I conjure up my RL friends, it's not really them, my friends are in their own homes and are not involved in my dream.

Its like, I have all these sweet abilities, I can go to any location I can imagine, and I can enjoy time with an endless assortment of wacky and intellectual characters... but at the end of the day, no matter how real it looks, I'm just lying in my bed.

      alone.

Try thinking about it more positivly...

While your friends have to keep going on with their stupid useless dreams that usually suck every day while they sleep you can pretty much do anything. Have something you want to do that you can't do in RL? Do it in a dream.

Lol that leads me to my next point... I'm out of ideas of new things to occupy myself with. I've ran through every lucid checklist I can find, done every bullet point that I would be interested in lol.

Just off the top of my head, I've blown the death star, swashbuckled pirates, swam with talking dolphins, flew to distant planets, made friends with a sentient alien race call the Ghoha (Pronounced Goo Ha), had sex.... a lot, drove tanks, destroyed cities, wrestled dinosaurs, stormed the beaches of normandy, brandished a lightsaber, chatted with albert schwitzer, figured out how to use bullet time, Rocked with kiss, played proffessional football, fought ninjas, played blitzball from FFX, piloted a plane, and basejumped off a 6000ft tower....

Every good thing in life has it's downfalls, if Lucid Dreaming were any better I would worry that it is the most perfect thing to happen to man. But seriously, it sounds like you are starting to take lucid dreams for granted. Think of them as gifts, and enjoy them when you have them. If you are really struggling of things to do, let me come up with a few. Hm... Let's see...
      1. Create a futuristic floating city in the clouds, and give it a visit.
      2. Create some evil plot before bed to take over the world, of which requires some odd scientific device that you must create. Then do it.
      3. Use super magic powers to throw the earth into the sun. Stand on top of a roof and watch.
      4. Turn yourself inside-out and see if you can manage to give a DC a big hug.
      5. Walk out to the middle of the ocean then sink as far as you can go. See if you can find any secrets.
      6. Create 3-4 team-mates, and go rob a highly-guarded bank, end it with a big bang, then give them all the money back and see what they do.
      7. Go into the middle of outer space, or some no-grav location. Create an obstacle course that consists of nothing but steel orbs and deadly traps. Then try to go through it by only using magnetic force to pull you towards each orb.
      8. Be in the middle of a war, of which you are NOT the hero. Perhaps even have somone save you.
      9. Become invisible, and try completely tripping out a family.
      10. If you have ever played "Rollcage" why not have a race in one of those cars?

That is all I can think of at the moment. They aren't that great, but I had to come up with them off the top of my head.

      Go outside.

Balance dreaming in the night with actually hanging out with people during the day.

Or if you meant that you DO do that and still can't have fun lucid dreaming... well damn. Go to BD and look up dream sharing?

Indeed, if you've done everything there is to do, try out some new undiscovered controversial stuff. Like meditation in dreams, dreamsharing, finding your dreamguide, accessing your normally unaccessible memories of your childhood in dreams, accessing your subconscious, talking to your higher self, trying out astral projecting, etc..

I was just about to post that. You can find out many interesting (and maybe not so interesting) things about yourself. That'll keep you busy for a while

And as Shift said: Balance it with going out during the day, having fun with friends and the like

I'm starting to feel it too. The only thing you can keep from dreams is the memory not the actual event because you can't bring the dream over into reality and relive it. Dreams are not a substitute for a relationship, it's for entertainment and self-exploring. Of course fellow lucid dreamers will not feel it but do an experiment.....get out into a secluded park at night with only the trees, the lights and the crickets and you'll know you are ultimately alone with the memory of a dream you had.

Bad advice, given to whom you are talking.

I say, post more of your awesome dreams in the dream gallery for us to read. That's the closest you'll get to dream sharing!

It might help to have a dream sidekick. Completely fictional, of course. But still, it isn't as fake as dream characters of real life people (or at least, that's how I think of it).

Looks like you use LD for recreation. As others have said - why not use it also to have a look at your psyche.

You have identified that you are lonely. Obviously you need a partner/freind/mate/something, if lonliness is bothering you then perhaps you have been lonely for sometime - perhaps you need to find out why this is. Next time you LD try asking your subconcious WHY you are lonely - you might not like what you hear - but it might be interesting........

And thats why I ditched omnipotence and went with the hard mostly logic way... Its far funnier to live an adventure and have continuity, like WL, just that you wake up on where you last left once your asleep instead of your bed once you wake up... now I'm confusing myself, but hope you get it <.<

Okay, sure you might have done anything but don't tell me you got bored of doing these things? Some people can't stop playing the same stupid video game... They play every day, all yeard and make world records. They don't even get bored of it. Don't tell me you got bored of flying and doing other impossible things? And if you don't want to do anything, just lay back at a beach. Do something relaxing. just do something, its not that hard.

      OR YOU COULD

prove shared dream and that would solve your problem XD

But metcalfracing has stated he is a talented lucid dreamer. I'd imagine that he has done those, and more. Eventually, routine gets boring. As for the video gamers....its called addiction. One more kill, one level higher. It has a tease to keep them occupied.

But dreaming doesn't have to be routine. Pushing the limits is one thing that makes life in general more interesting. To metcalfracing, I would sugguest posing challenges to yourself. Try to solve problems that you encounter in real life in your dreams. Use your dream time proactively, and get one level higher.

Flying was just an exemple but still, even when I'll be a pro at LDing, I'm sure I'll still enjoy flying or just doing not so extraordinary things. It's not 'cause you have no limits that you have to do anything impossible, just doing things that you feel like doing might be good. I don't know... If your stressed for exams. Even if you can do ANYTHING, just sitting and watching the space might be enough to relax you. Like you said, he did EVERYTHING so the goals your giving him, I guess he've already done them. Excuse me if I made it sound like I actually took that literally.

      aarrgghh!

      how can you be complaining!

not all lucid dreamers can lucid dream so regularly. many of us can go months without lucid dreaming, and many others have trouble falling asleep. you have such an opportunity to really explore the self in a way that most don't have

      dont waste it

Hold up, everyone here is assuming that I'm some sort of loner who stays in the house all day. I spend most of my day outside hanging out with friends. My point is, just like with single player video games, I get bored, because it's the social aspect that makes things fun for me.

I enjoy dreams, don't get me wrong, but how many times can you fly a tie-fighter before it gets old.. answer: twice...

Also, Abra makes a good point... BD is a hell-hole lol (please don't flame me for that)

Get your friends involved with Lucid Dreaming.
This will not only give you something to share, and talk about, but it will help you advance in your own LD's by teaching someone else.

Just enjoy the fact that you're alive and can relax inside your head. ^_^

Edit: I think a everlasting free-fall while listening to Do Make Say Think and looking down to a beautiful world would be grand...maybe its just me but i love music in dreams.
