      The exact definition of LDing?

      Hai guys,

I was wondering, what exactly is a LD?
Is it when you realize that it is a dream, or is it when you control the dream?
Is it a LD when you wake up instead of doing something?
Or does everyone has is own opinion about what is a LD?

A LD is where you realize that it all is a dream and are fully conscious of the fact.

If you wake up or aren't able to control it, it's still a LD.

      Standard definition.

Lucid dreaming is knowing you are dreaming. It has nothing to do with having control.

However, you normaly need to be LDing to control your dream so a controled Dream is technickly a LD.

Like said before, if you can't control your dream, it doesn't mean you're not LDinh. All a LD is, is when you know you're dreaming.

But just to know your dreaming opens many opportunity in the dream

It'd been better if you hadn't posted that, it makes things confusing.

      Ah ok, thank you all.
But with that answer i got another question.
I red most of the tutorials and stuff, and most of them contain parts about reality checks.
The dreams where i knew i was dreaming i just knew because everything was kind of blurry and half from 3rd person view. Or in some that were totally clear and from 1st person view i just knew i was dreaming.
Why is that, and do more people have that?

That's just a thing that you get. Reality checks are just a way to get lucid easier. It's just the nature of the dream. Most people have that.

      Here's how I understand it:

-Controlled lucid: You know it's a dream, and control it as such

-Uncontrolled lucid: You know it's a dream, and just go with the flow.

-controlled nonlucid: you don't know it's a dream, but you have super powers, or the ability to bend reality, or some other way to control the effects without noticing it's a dream.

-uncontrolled nonlucid: You don't know it's a dream, and you don;t control anything, with the possible exception of yourself.

      Hope that helps.

I don't think that having super power in non-lucid dream is about controlling the dream since you naturally had them. You're not changing the dream, you're just going with the flow (that you have super powers). Only in lucid dreams you can say "I'm dreaming so I can do whatever I want so why would I stay here?" In a dream if you said "Why would I stay here" it would be part of the dream... I would instantly become lucid, anyways... That's my confusing opinion

But how can you control something you do not know is happenning?

In a non-lucid dream, super powers are part of the dream. Its part of the dream laws (if you know what they are)

I wasn't gonna respond but it seems I may need to.

Lucid Dream: you know that you are dreaming. ± Control.

      Everything Else: irrelevant.

Oh, I think I get what you guys mean about controled non-lucid dream... I had a dream that I was pretty concscious last night. I was living in my favorite house I have lived in during my life. I asked everyone I met in the house if I was dreaming or not. They told me no. I remember doing to RC which failed (I think)... I've stopped RCing in that las while so I guess that in the dream I didn't really gave any attention. Anyways, I mean, I was conscious of my surroundings, just not conscious that I was sleeping. However it felt like a lucid (to me). Is that what you mean by controled unlucid dream? That you are conscious of your surrundings, therefore you can control what's happening. Contrairly to the dreams you barely remember.... wait, This is comfusing, I think we should stop talking about this (or I should)

No, by controlled non-lucid they mean a dream where you are controlling things in a fantastical manner (compared to real life), but in which you do not realize that you are dreaming. It's not that difficult.

But its not controlled. It's still going with the flow of the dream since dreams have no laws, in conclusion, there are nothing such as fantastical manner since everything is fantastical in a dream. Anyways, I guess, my opinion will not change the meaning. I guess we can just close it at the fact that you guys are right and I was obsessed with sharing my weird opinion which was not considered (for a good reas0n)

      According to Wikipedia...

A lucid dream is a dream in which the person is aware that he or she is dreaming while the dream is in progress, also known as a conscious dream. ...

SCD, I have had non-lucids where have I have sortof thought "hmmm, I wish this person was here" or "I wish I had this object" and then summoned it (by thinking "the object/person will be behind the door", for e.g). I knew I could summon objects and had the idea things weren't real, but haven't actually realised I'm dreaming.

In my oppinion, thats what is meant by a controlled non-lucid. But I do agree, having superpowers is sortof just the 'dream plot' rather than being controlled. But I think it depends on how you see things, if you realise you can do whatever you want, I suppose its controlled. Wheras if you just 'have the power' its different. Thats just my oppinion.

Sorry if I'm starting this thread up again, I just felt I needed to express my oppinion on this topic

No, don't be sorry, you have explained it in a better manner than everyone else. I understand what you guys mean now, thank you. As I said not long a go with my dream which I asked my dad if I was dreaming, I felt more conscious than normally. I felt as if it was real life and not a dream. I felt present, more than from any of my LDs so I guess that if I had figured out I could do anything, I would have had a controled dream (but would have became lucid, probably)

Yeah, its wierd. I tend to have this when I start to get lazy and stop putting effort into lucid-dreaming. These controlled non-lucids would replace my lucids untill I start putting effort in again. Its like I make a habit of my lucid powers and start using them without even realising I'm dreaming. I guess that small amount of consciousness is enough to put me into my 'lucid mindset'.

Yes, I have realised this in my last un-lucid dreams. There is even a night that I had no idea wether I had been lucid or not
