I'm always slightly surprised when people say that they don't think lucid dreaming exists, or when people do studies to prove or disprove it. It's so natural for me that I used to assume that it was natural for everyone. I really pity those people who will never experience an LD.Quote:

Except in rare cases, "I'm too busy to try LDing" doesn't really work. Most people aren't working/in school/doing homework/sports/etc from the time they get up to the time they go to bed. But I can see how if you're busy you might not want to spend your limited free time asking yourself if you're dreaming. I mean, reality checks are a bit of a pain.
I think we need some more good movies to be released about lucid dreaming. There haven't been many dream-based movies released in the past few years. Sadly, most people are really only interested in what they see on TV or in the movies.
Paragon, I understand that everyone is different and all but this si different. It's going in your own world and doing what YOU like. You are completly free to doing what YOU want. This is not like asking someone "Do you like icecream?". It's more like asking "Do you like food?" because dream can be customized by the dreamer and the dreamer decides what he/she wishes to do.
For the "I don't have enough time", this is not a good excuse to me... Or my teachers. If we don't finish a homework, "I didn't have enough time" is not an excuse ('cause, seriously, it isn't) Lucid Dreaming doesn't take as much time as a homework. You do it at night (if you DILD like I do) and all you have to do in the day are reality checks which take barely any time and which I find really enjoyable actually.
My mom's excuse is that she wants to 'rest' and not make her brain make any efforts. She's too stubborn to understand that are brain create dreams anyways, and that we still do stuff in our dreams, its just that we don't remember when we wake up. I would like her to lucid dream, 'cause she's always working not really doing anything amusing...
The one published weren't really popular either, except for The Matrix which is not about Lucid Dreaming and if someone simply watched it, they wouldn't know they could do all of that.Quote:

i had really bad recall when i first heard of lucid dreaming and working on a dream journal can actually be tough when u have to get up at like 4:30 am.
writing down dreams in the middle of the night can cause me to stay awake for quite some time as i switch to waking mode really fast.
and loosing time of your sleep when u only had like 5-6 hours to begin with can wear on you after some time.
i try to compensate with going to bed a bit earlier but my point is it certainly requires some effort for one person, while it might only mean a reality check now and then for another.

I also have to wake up in the middle of the night (or at least be mentally prepared to) if I want to have a LD. It's true that you do lose some sleep, but it also provides motivation to get to bed earlier and maybe even get more sleep than you normally do. Part of what I love about focusing on dreaming is that the next thing I do isn't waking up. I'm much more willing to go to bed if I associate it with dreaming (possibly lucidly) rather than having to wake up in the morning.
I think you're right about the last bit though, Nocturno, for most people LDing requires waking up in the middle of the night at one point or another.

I have no desire to go swimming through rivers full of precious jewels, riding on the backs of dinosaurs, travelling to different planets and leading armies of Roman soldiers into battle*. True, true... The past three nights I've just been like, "blaahh... whatever" and didn't bother recalling any dreams. I stayed up too late, just like I'm staying up too late now... It's not so much the running around in my mind that's the problem, it's getting to the point where I can run around that's tiring.Quote:

People always used to ignore and be aware of everything, what they don't know. But that's only my opinion.
To be honest, im trying to make LD'ing more popular. I have told one of my friends and she says she is gonna give it a go and wonder around the forums getting ideas :)
Okay Paragon, you're probably more right than me. I guess I am different (than anyone who likes to just stop existing for a while, I mean, I have only one life, to my knowledge, so I want to take the most fo it, than, if there's something after death, that's good but at least I'll be prepared if not)

I talk about dreams every day with the people around me but try not to talk about 'lucid dreaming' because then it makes things akward when I think about dreams and they get annoyed so just talking about dreams keeps everyone interested in the subject and maybe one day I'll make it more interesting?
I've mentioned it to some of my friends (including my brother) and they think its a joke. So I just keep it to myself.
I think it's not as popular because you can't actually see what people do in their lucids. As well as this, it's tough for some people to grasp the concept of lucidity, dream control, and basically, having to work for something they might not find worth it. For me it is, because I enjoy having fun while I'm sleeping, but some people think it's a waste of time.
There is only one person that I have ever talked to at school about lucid dreams. He already knew about them before I talked to him about it and he also told me about a time he almost had an OBE or he thinks it may have almost been an OBE but thinking back on what he said he might have really just been close to a WILD but I didnt know that you could go from waking into a LD at the time we were talking about it much less the sensations he described.
He said he felt his whole body shaking and sliding around on his bed.
