      Dream Quest?

well um...basically i was wondering if any one has read the story by H.P Lovecraft, the dream quest of unknown kadath?
And if you had, is it possible to have a lucid dream that long, because if it is i am going to try my hardest to have my own dream quest/dream world.

well, i was thinking about (if i get good enough at lucid dreaming) having my own dream world/life. but id come back to it all the time, so i wouldnt need really really long dreams, just many normal sized ones to come back to eveery night.
but to answer your question, i dont know. i dont actually even know what "time dilation" is, like what mike said.

Time dilation would be having a dream that felt like it went on for a long time, but doesn't take up much real time. I've had (non lucid) dreams that felt like they went on for weeks, but obviously didn't in real life.

I have read dreamquest unkown kadath (great book) and I'd reckon that's far too long for your mind to handle in one dream. However if your memory is good enough to drop back into where you left off slash's suggestion seems reasonable.

My friend's brother has had lucid dreams every night since he was three. He's 20 now. He's created a second life for himself in his dreams. Wouldn't it be awesome if we did that?
What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?

Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?

As others said, continuing dreams are your best bet.

BTW, Lovecraft is my favorite author ever =P

I've had some fairly long lucid dreams. But not as long as Kadath!

I used to string my dreams together to form a world with characters, places, and plots I could return to. You can do this, too. =]

My lucids have always seemed pretty short, or at least shorter than what i would be happy with. But I guess if you get very good at increasing vividness/stability of dream, or eventually becoming advanced enough as to control time as it seems to you in the dream, length is completely in your hands

And I've never read the book, but I'll look into it.

Building a dream world is one of my major goals, though I'm certain you can't extend the time you spend in a dream as long as they do in the Dream Quest. The story was interesting to read about, but I never got a hold of the book to read for myself. One day.

If you make a dream world, be sure to write about it! I'd love to read it.
