Persuasive Speech; Try Lucid Dreaming!

In my speech class I have the chance to do a persuasive speech on almost any topic I'd like. I decided that I want more people in my world of lucid dreams, here in my school. I've already attempted to persuade a few of my friends without much luck, because I feel they're a bit in the dark, confused, and possibly even a bit scared of the prospect (or maybe just scared of me ;D). In my speech, I want to make sure that I cover a few reasons to try. 1. What convinced you to try lucid dreaming?
After i watched Vanilla Sky i decided to read up about it and just got hooked on learning new exercises that could help me become a better Lucid Dreamer.

2. How many lucid dreams have you had?
Honestly i have not had that many, i havent been trying for that long but my dream recall has improved since i started. It is very much possible and worth it to learn How to become Lucid.

3. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate yourself as a lucid dreamer?
The dreams ive had where i became Lucid were very hard to keep Lucid. I usally get distracted or excited and loose focus. Really, in all honesty id probally say 2.

4. If you could complete any one goal in a lucid dream, what would it be?
Probally the things that ive failed to achive in life. Flying or floating would be brilliant.

6. How long have you been lucid dreaming?
Ive been trying it probally for at least a month. Ive done my homework on it and know enough to be able to understand how and when would be the best time for me to use the exercises ive practised.
7. Which method for attaining a lucid dream works best for you?
The one i use most would have to be WBTB. thats what ive been told is probally the most effective method to induce Lucid dreaming. I also sometimes perform the reality check method through out the day.
8. Of all lucid dreams, how many of yours have been DILDs (Dream-Induced Lucid Dreams) ?
One. but soon after obtaining Lucidty i woke up due to excitment.

9. What goals have you accomplished in lucid dreams (if any) ?**
unfortuantly i have not achived and goals yet. Ive got my Fingers crossed though.

10. How did you find out about lucid dreaming?
After watching Vanilla Sky and then reading about it and what its like i became hooked on learning all the methods and practising them day to day.
i used the internet for alote of research, theres some extremely helpfull things.

1. What convinced you to try lucid dreaming?
I've always been interested in dreams and have had numerous interesting adventures. When I learned you could be consciously aware that you're dreaming, I was intrigued and knew this was something I wanted to try. I'd already had a few similar experiences before and figured it would be fun.

2. How many lucid dreams have you had?

Only about 10. I haven't put forth a whole lot of effort, though. I think lucid dreaming and this community have also helped me to appreciate my normal non-lucid dreams more as well.

4. If you could complete any one goal in a lucid dream, what would it be?

To see if I can find a place I dreamed about around 15 years ago. That dream had a major impact on my life at that time and I've never been there since.

Knowing that countless others were going through the same thing and still managed to be successful. Also, my non-lucid dreams are often rather interesting and enjoyable, so I've learned to appreciate those more as well.

Since I found DV, about 4.5 years ago.

7. Which method for attaining a lucid dream works best for you?

DILD assisted by WBTB. When I was younger I also managed Dream Re-Entry a number of times, but I was never truly lucid.

8. Of all lucid dreams, how many of yours have been DILDs (Dream-Induced Lucid Dreams) ?

Pretty much all of them.

9. What goals have you accomplished in lucid dreams (if any) ?**

None, yet.

10. How did you find out about lucid dreaming?

I was looking up "Sleep" on a website called howstuffworks.com and around page 4 of their explanation they had a link to DV where I learned what LDing was about. The rest is history.

Note: I've also had some level of control in my non-LDs. I've flown, breathed under water, walked through walls, made something explode (a dog that was attacking me... wait, I was lucid then), and changed the general course of the dream when I didn't like what was going on. I do feel that through my attempts to lucid dream and my own general interest in dreaming has helped me to at least achieve that much throughout the course of my life.

1. What convinced you to try lucid dreaming?
There was no real convincing involved. I was already fascinated by dreams as it was, and the prospect of being able to take full control of them to do whatever I wished was likely one of the more appealing things I had going for me at the time. I had also been plagued by nightmares that extended well into my mid teens. Those nightmares had vanished upon the success of my first lucid dream.

2. How many lucid dreams have you had?
I've never kept track of them, and I have only recorded the most significant ones into what used to be a dream journal. You could say I have at least once a week, but I do have my dry moment.

3. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate yourself as a lucid dreamer?
Somewhere between 7 and 8, and only because of the trouble I still have with initiating the actual lucidity. Once I'm aware though, I have no trouble with manipulating the surroundings and pulling off whatever power I wish to try next. The dream control itself has never been an issue.

4. If you could complete any one goal in a lucid dream, what would it be?
To lock myself in a lucid state until I choose to wake up from it. Waking up from a dream once the dream is meant to end seems to be one of the hardest (if not the hardest) things to resist, and I haven't heard much of being able to control this anywhere. It would provide me with enough time to design and construct an entire world from scratch, down to rather small details, and to set the correct mood of the entire thing.

5. In failed lucid dreaming attempts*, what kept you going?
Learning about lucid dreaming excited me to the point that I was successful on the first night, if only by chance. My excitement, however, woke me up a few seconds after I flew into the air.

6. How long have you been lucid dreaming?
Since January of 2004.

7. Which method for attaining a lucid dream works best for you?
Eating a anything with plenty of sugar in it before sleep usually works. Ice-cream has been the most successful so far. If a dream is vivid by itself, I can often tell that it's a dream without any other tricks.

8. Of all lucid dreams, how many of yours have been DILDs (Dream-Induced Lucid Dreams) ?
All but one. :)

9. What goals have you accomplished in lucid dreams (if any) ?**
Flying was the obligatory first.
Super speed was next (and one of the most fun).
Underwater breathing.
Physical combat skills.
Scenery changing.
Energy blasts...
Deleting individual DCs.
Talked to both Ravens and Crows.
Teleportation.
Resurrection of dead people.
Pyromancy as an effective weapon.
Immortality (after being shot in chest and head, a great feeling btw)
And so far, none of the lucid tasks! Hrmmmmm

10. How did you find out about lucid dreaming?
After following a link from Howstuffworks.com at the end of an article (How Dreams Work) that led me to dreamviews.

Once I knew about it, I had to do it. Not lucid dreaming seems as unnatural to me as not exercising, or not eating. It's a part of being human.

Depends on where you distinguish between lucid and non, so anywhere from dozens to hundreds.

The notion that failing can be just as much of a learning experience, if not more, than succeeding. I can't tell you how many times I've learned new tricks or gained new insight into the whole process by failing.

If I had to guess, which I would because I don't keep rigourous track, I would say about 1/4 to 1/5 of my lucids are DILD.

I have flown, purposefully delayed wakeup, summoned objects, morphed objects, changed location, and probably some other things that I would call 'milestones'.

i had always wanted to do anything i wanted, when i was a kid, i always wanted to be spiderman, and when i learnt to lucid dream, i was able to be spiderman

i was on the internet and i saw something which i thought was astronomy, but i read it wrong and what it actually said was astrology, and when i went on it, it said something about what your dreams mean, so i was like dammit, then because i was so upset i thought i would make up for it by lookinjg t somehting interesting to do with dreams, so i thought, how cool would it be to control dreams, so i googled it and found this site.

2 years ago in AEF found a post about dreams and controling them, someone mentioned it was called Lucid Dreaming and I googled, sticked to a forum that was deleted for unknown causes and had to look again after that, here I am now.

1. The prospect of reclaiming an entire 1/3 of your lifetime seemed too valuable to pass up. (Besides, you get to do ANYTHING you want, inside of outside the bounds of physics)

Once I found out that it was possible to control your dreams and do whatever you wanted through lucid dreaming, there was no stopping me.

Eleven, but all of them were short.

I'd probably want to do an axel. But my goal isn't so much to do a particular thing in a LD as just being able to get myself into a good, stable lucid dream.

The idea of being able to do the impossible, particularly flying. I've always loved regular flying dreams.
