Is there any one here who is worth networking with?

Hey. I was wondering is there anyone here that is worth networking with who is a pro at lucid dreaming and can help me or are we all stumbling around in the dark?

I know that might sound mean, but I've been here before reading posts and it doesn't seem like anyone has any real answers or knowledge or their posts are hard to read.

I can't afford to do the Steven LaBerge lucid meet thing in Hawaii but it sounds like he's the only one who actually has any confidence that he can help you learn anything.

If we got together and did a letter with sigs we might get him to do something stateside if not in person at least through maybe one of those sites like go to meeting dot com.

I want real help and friends and RESULTS.

Does anyone know WHAT this 'substance' is that LaBerge says he is studying and is available to the dreamers at his retreat if they want to try it?

Why not use the adoption thing? And how much posts did you read? Because there is a lot of knowledge and experience around lol And in which section... that is important too <.<

This was a while ago and it just seemed like everyone was asking the same questions I was and not really certain about anything and then some guy running around trying to scare everyone by saying that dreams were not controllable because they were really visits to an astral plane and the people in the dreams were spirits which worried me for a while because I do have a mental illness.

Don't let that scare you. I am harmless.

Welcome to Dream Views, Lady Grimbones.

I think you should take some more time and look around. There are plenty of us here who know a lot about lucid dreaming and have much knowledge to share. You say that you've been around a lot, and you see the same questions being asked, but with 2 posts, it doesn't seem like you've done very much of the asking, yourself.

The best way for you to find the answers you seek is not to live (so to speak) vicariously through the questions of others, but to ask your own questions. One thing you must understand, though, is that there are a lot of questions that can't be answered objectively - when it comes to dreams - because dreams have so much subjective material. Many answers are different for many people. There are plenty of questions you may have about your own dream experiences that maybe even Stephen LaBerge wouldn't be able to answer with any sort of perfection.

But, yeah, check the tutorial sections; use the search option to find specifics if you need them; and don't hesitate to start your own threads asking any questions that you feel you need answers to. Other than that, there are Dream Guides and other elder members here that you should feel free to PM with any help you may need or questions you may need answered.

I am not sure what you mean by this but if you mean 'what does this dream mean' I really don't care about that sort of thing. I want to know how to get lucid, why I have problems getting lucid, do I need full lucidity to preprogram dreams I want to have, and how do I make them last and be realistic.

Well, you've made it to DV. All you require now is a little atti-toot adjustin' and you will be well on your way to lucid dreaming.

For the majority of the subject of lucid dreaming, there ARE no clear answers. Most of the questions we have have not been researched, not even by Laberge (or the many other scientists researching lucid dreaming).

That said, there is a ridiculous amount of information available, and people who have been lucid dreaming for YEARS are just sitting around waiting to answer your questions on Dreamviews. Not to mention, some great people to befriend.

You can also literally see that DV helps people learn to lucid dream.

But, if you are the kind of person who wants to waste thousands of dollars just to have someone tell you things you could be told for free, be my guest. Otherwise, I recommend taking a few more looks around the site before you give up on it. If you truly wanted to lucid dream, you'd realize everything you need is already here. :)

I'm not talking about dream interpretation. I don't get too mixed up in that, either, because - though it wasn't my point - it is very subjective, and most interpretations are nothing but wild guesses.

What I'm talking about is the same kind of thing you're looking for: "How to get lucid." "How to pre-program (or, as well call it "incubate") dreams." "How to make them last and be realistic."

There are many answers to these questions here at Dream Views, but my point is that if you're looking for concrete answers, you're not likely to find them. The only thing you're likely to find are guidelines, because what methods work for some people don't work for other people. That is the nature of dreams and psychology in general. The most important thing you're going to have to get a handle on, to start your journey into lucid dreaming, is patience. You may have to try many different methods, and take in many different perspectives, to find what works for you. But as far as getting started, there are hundreds of threads available where people have answered those same questions.

To give you a short version to your questions, though:

How to get lucid:
There are many methods to get lucid. My best method is to have "Dream-Induced Lucid Dreams." This is a method which consists of realizing that something just isn't right, and questioning whether or not I'm dreaming. Preparing for this method includes things like questioning your state, constantly, while you're awake, so that it becomes a habit to do it in dreams. Also, asking yourself "is this just a dream?" whenever something strange happens in waking life. That way, again, you'll be more apt to do it while you're dreaming. You can compound this with doing reality checks, such as holding your nose and trying to breathe, or trying to push a finger through your other palm. Things like that. There are a bunch of other methods, but it's going to take you some searching around to become familiar with them all.

Why I have problems getting lucid:
Everybody has problems getting lucid, at times. You have problems because you're not used to it. It's not a habit. This is normal for most people.

Do I need full lucidity to pre-program dreams I want to have:
No. You don't need full-lucidity. You don't even need to be asleep. Dream incubation happens, most effectively, when you're awake. During the day, you auto-suggest what kinds of dreams you want to have. You focus on it very hard throughout the day, and a little while before you go to bed at night. You are not guaranteed to have the dream you want all the time, so don't get your heart set on it. Though, if you use the WBTB (wake-back-to-bed) method - where you wake up sometime in the middle of the night, spend some time focusing on dreaming and what kind of dream you want to have, and then go back to bed with that kind of dream in mind - you're more likely to incubate the kind of dream you want.

How do I make them last and be more realistic?:
This is another one of those questions that will vary from person to person. Personally, what I do is - whenever I become lucid (if I can remember to) - I look at my hands. Looking closely at something while dreaming usually makes the detail come more into focus. This not only makes the dream world around you seem more realistic, when you look away from the object you were focusing on, but it also helps "ground" me into the dream, which usually makes the dreams last longer.

Ah, I understand now. Yeah, that is like make up and zits among other things what works for one doesn't work for all. Bummer. I like just getting things done and all this subjectiveness kind of bothers me sometimes :-)

I wish there were more traditional artists around.

Thanks, but nah, I did mine in Photoshop. There are actually some pretty good traditional artists around here, some of which (like myself) prefer more than one medium, though, so you'll find people that use programs like Blender and PS, but also do some great work on canvas.

I think Oneironaut meant what he said in a backwards way, pointing out that it's your bothered-ness of subjectivity that is against the nature of dreams, and not vice versa. Everything has always been/can only be subjective! Getting bothered about it is just distress from thinking that no-one can understand, it takes intelligence to understand that it's not possible to know, and that getting frustrated is pointless.

Life is also just as subjective as dreams.
Subjectivity may mean that no-one can truly know whether they ever understand or experience the same as anyone else, but subjectivity only exists in relation to that there are others, or at least the undecidable possibility that everyone else is real (or at least a part of you). Life is the same game as dreams, just with different rules.

As Shift said, you already have everything you need to lucid dream.
Nobody can GIVE you results, they are already there, just a little question and lucidity opens it's doors to you. Is that question so very difficult that Stephen LaBerge is needed, or even a forum?
