I wanted to start a poll real quick on those who do stuff in there sleep.
Normally these things happen in N-REM

I've heard of alot of interesting things that have happened to sleep talkers and walkers... If you have one please tell us about it!
I don't think i've every sleepwalked, and i'm told that i don't sleeptalk, but you never know... :P
btw i assume you mean n-rem as non-rem, because you become immoble when in rem
i talk, though apparently it's mostly mutters and extremely fast, and i don't always do it. I also twitch in my sleep, but that's due to e genetic disorder, so i don't think it counts.

Yes, I do mean Non-Rem... Because yes, unless you have a disorder your main limbs are paralized, And thankgod for that.
As for twiching.. yea that doens't count.
Random fact: Only about 1/8 of the us population has reported sleepwalking, it mainly happens in those that are very young (under 12) and those that have come from a sleepwalking/talking family.
Also If you do sleepwalk/talk, tell us what you do or say... I'm sure that will be interesting.
I have a friend for instance who had a phone conversation while he was dreaming. He was talking with his girlfriend, and he was in a war (in his dream) He had a dream phone and kept saying people were shooting at him etc. Kind of funny... He said it happened because she called him at about 2am and he only half woke up to answer and fell asleep while talking.
I wish i could do that :o

Any way I've only talked in my sleep. My younger brother said that one night he walkin my room and said hello and i'd i said hi back before he realized how late it was and that I was asleep. This was a few years ago and aparently I haven't said any thing else. I do remember my brother talking in his sleep alot. Its always just random words strung together.

That Sounds Normal... As I said alot of people have this happen to them when they were younger.
Just as a fun thing, Always try to talk back to the sleeptalker, sometimes they respond and you can actually have a conversation.

lol, yeah, i know someone who u can question him in his sleep and he'll hold whole conversation with you, and not remember any of it, but he can't lie in his sleep, we've found, so if you ever want to know something...
I guess neither of them. I never really have anyone sleep in my room and If i did sleep in the same room with someone then I'd be the last to fall asleep. But I remember my brother mentioning me saying something while i was asleep years ago, but didnt hear me since it was low and mumbling. My broher used to do it to(i dont know anymore since we dont share a room anymore, but I probably do it to).
No sleepwalking for me though. when i sleep i dont move at all.
u should add an "all of the above" i think that i've done all those at lest once

But if you do all the above, then Your just Special Ok...
Post a reply saying all the stuff you've discovered you've done if you've done all the above or somethings not listed and you have to say "other". :)

I have no idea, I'm not familiar with this sites programming....
I appreciate the offer, but I wouldn't worry about it... I'd just select "OTHER" as an all of the above.

A few nights ago I had gotten back from a really long bus ride back home and I was really tired and just fell asleep on the couch. When my mom tried to wake me up so I could go to bed, she said that I was mumbling something about a string, which I dont' remember at all...
Non-REM sleep seems to be the state where alot of thinking and subconscious dialogue occures...
I was once Lucid in the N-REM state as you just fall asleep... (without the sleep paralysis or vibrations).
I didn't see anything, I simply heard myself talking to some person or dream character about seemingly meaningless things. Its really weird being a conscious observer listening to yourself talk and to hear other voices in that state.
It's likely that thats where the sleep-talking is coming from when someone hears you in your sleep. Only partial words come out because your mouth is only recieving so much of it... which makes it mummbling most of the time... If you were to shout in that state however most likely the outside would finally hear a clear voice.
I've had alot of lucid dreams where I try to talk, and its as if I'm trying to talk out of my real mouth... which is really frustrating because you can't easily do that since most of your body is paralysed. So I end up having to say things in my head in the dream instead of actually saying it.... it's very annoying. Anyone else had that problem?

Anyway... From what I am told I often talk in my sleep.
Once my Ex called and I talked to him for about 5 mins and don’t remember a thing... So I voted for the phone thing.
I have also been told that I am able to have a conversation and answer questions while I sleep. One time I guess i shouted out a long string or words that made no sense together and the last word just happened to be Lust!
I was also told from a friend that during a slumber party my friend and I were talking to each other in our sleep. We were playing a game before we went to sleep where instead of someone getting the "Last Word" it was who could get the last "Hit" (yes we were hitting each other and it got painful :lol: ). Supposedly my friend woke up to a noise and it was my friend and I playing the game in our sleep and mumbling at eachother... needless to say she thought we were freaks and we heard all about it in the morning. I don’t remember any burses though hehe!
I used to be a sleepwalker, wake-dreamer (i couldn't think of a name.. but its when you are awake and walking around, yet still in a dream), sleeptalker. I've woken up standing on chairs, under my bed, in my backyard, on the floor, sitting in a different room then where i went to sleep, while taking a piss. Is that enough? All I know is thank God it stopped.. it was gettin dangerous. (and, i don't do drugs and I wasn't drinking those times either).
hehe.. i had a friend who's little brother you could make sleepwalk just by throwing lots of blankets on him.. he'd wake up and wonder around like a zombie for a few minutes before collapsin back to sleep again.
Yea, drugs and other stuff aren't going to cause sleep walking....

It has something to do with the arousal of your body when technically your "brain" is still asleep. So throwing blankets at someone or other subtle things to wake them during their sleep would cause that. Other things can be extreme stress or anciety. When someone is unsettled they might sleepwalk if their prone to it.
People in the sleepwalking state are basically in the highest point of hypnosis (The deepest part of sleep, the point where you are most easily hypnotized) Of course in the natural sleep your not listening to the outside usually, so unless you can talk to the sleepwalker their not going to listen to any 'suggestions'.
all of us turn into zombies at that part of the night.
Hey wouldn't it be cool to go to bed and the and then realize in the morning that all your work is completed because you sleepwalked and did it all....? I wish we could do that.

I used to sleep walk all the time when I was younger. I don't think I've done it in a while.
I still talk in my sleep. It's kind of funny too. This one time, about 6 or 7 years ago, I was talking in my sleep with one of my friends in the room. In my sleep, I was speaking pure spanish and it was trippin' my friend out.
I don't speak spanish daily, but I used to live with my grandparents and they would speak to me in spanish. I would speak back in english. I never spoke spanish fluently, so this was a funny sleep talking session. I think I had some hidden knowledge of spanish that was being tapped in to when I would sleep.
I wonder something about sleeptalking. If someone sleep talks, are they in the same state of consciousness as someone who is under hypnosis?

The EEG Readings come out the same for a person in deep sleep (whos sleepwalking or talking) and a person under deep hypnosis, So I'd say that deep sleep is a little more powerful than hypnosis, but yes it does appear to be the same state of consciousness, as I hinted in my last post.

Mm, i sleep-talk lotsa crazy stuff - or so i'm told. As i posted somewhere else, my most recent verbalisation was "I want the all-day pancake". Often they're not as sensible as this, as they're usually not proper full sentences. Just random words, letters or noises. They seem to have no connection to my waking thoughts, as they're so incredibly absurdist, i can't possibly imagine their purpose or source. But i'm told i blabber pretty frequently about lotsa funny stuff. (edit: in my sleep too!)
