      How do you distinguish...

How do you distinguish between having a LD and dreaming about having a LD.

Last night I had a dream where I did a RC, then it became Lucid. But thinking back it seems like I wasnt Lucid at all, I was dreaming about being Lucid.

Have any of you had this problem?

Isn't dreaming about dreaming about is as good as dreaming about it? =P

hell naw, its rubbish, a real LD is the most amazing feelling of being god, but dreaming of a dream you still feel like your normal, non-powerful self.

I've had that, one of my LD's when I think back might have just been me dreaming I was in an LD!

I am finding this topic very confusing. if you are dreaming about having a particular kind of dream surely you are just dreaming it first time round and therefore having the genuine experience. In two months I've had about 30 LDs but usually with very limited dream control and plenty of false awakenings.

But I have never seen a dream of a dream and how would you distinguish that from just directly dreaming/experiencing an LD?

I think if you had a good lucid dream you would have no doubt about it but...
sometimes you have hazy or vague ld's
or you can "Dream" about lucid dreaming. (that's happened to me.)
I think the way that works is that you just had a really low level of awareness/clarity, so you think you just dreamed about ld'ing.

Its more like, you are dreaming about what you would do if you had a LD.

This is why I am confused, I don't know whether I had a actual LD or just a dream.
Some of the decisions I made within the dream didn't seem normal. I have always wanted my first LD in a garden. However in this particular dream all I could think about was a mountain.

well to distiguish between the two you just kinda know. if you have just become lucid, you will know about it, i could just say to you that it is the most amazing thing, but to say that you would underestimate how good it is and maybe assume it was it, but when you become lucid you just know how good it is.

i dont know if you understand or took in any of that, but thats the best i can describe.

      Kind of like SP?
Once you get it, you definitely know about it.

The closest I've come to dreaming I'm lucid is where in one dream I'm laying on some female doctors couch and she's telling me how to do the WILD technique.

I lay there all relaxed with my eyes closed within the dream and I'm listening to her instructions and I can actually feel the tingling sensations through my dream body and the heavy feeling on my chest. That would have been awesome to do my first fully completed WILD within a dream lol. The amazing thing is that the sensations were exactly the same as if I was consciously doing it.

Shame I still didn't realise it was a dream at the time though.
