I am going to assume this is a constantly asked question, but i've used the search section and it came up with next to nothing. So, how realistic are Lucid dreams really? And do you think that you can dream about having a lucid dream?

In my experience my Lucid dreams are about as vivid as reality. However, once I woken it starts to fade and looses its vividness. It becomes almost a memory from years ago.
But I would also like to hear from other people.
How realistic is it before and after?
For me, being in a lucid dream is like being in reality. It's that realistic.
To put a tired old question to rest: as stated before, it can be as vivid as reality.
I suggest that someone - preferably a DG - should post an FAQ thread with all these common questions and sticky it in the Newbie forum and direct anyone who asks such questions to it.

The are totally just like WL. Once you realize you are dreaming, you pay attention to your surroundings more, causing them to be more realistic. Once you wake up though, things fade. Good luck with your dreaming!

And, yes, I've dreamed of becoming lucid once before, without actually becoming lucid.
Just like real life. I just hate how when I wake up it is almost like it never happened and I question whether I really had control. It just seems so unreal when you wake up.
There are different levels of lucidity and vividness so don't give up just yet. I remember my most vivid lucid seemed more vivid than reality, or at least that's how it felt in the dream. It was raining and I couldn't stop just looking around and at my hands, I tried flying but then I woke up but it's still my second favourite lucid.Quote:

I agree with Seachmall in that they can be more 'real' than reality.
I think this is because everything is the ideal way we want it to be. Even bad things are the best way they can be. e.g you see a wasp in RL and you know its just a wasp, whereas you see a wasp in a dream and it is your ideal image of a wasp.
Your brain makes the image that seems best to your own personal prefrences.
Kinda hard to explain but I know what I mean.
Agree with all of the above :) poor, dark lucids aren't as good obviously but you may still have a good sense of being in a 3D environment and have a heightened set of senses, such as touch, smell etc.
For me, my best one was this morning where a normal dream turned lucid and I went from a seemingly black & white dream bedroom to a full-on colour one with the contrast turned up lol. Think of an early Technicolor movie from the 1940's and that's pretty much what the colour is like.
In a DILD I get this strange dreaming feeling which is still quite real but in a WILD its just as real as sitting in front of this CPU typing this up right now!
Thanks for giving me a bit more motivation. although I wasn't going to give up on Lucid dreaming anyway, because it still fascinates me and I haven't achieved my goal of getting a WILD, to see how realistic WILDs are. :DQuote:

Everyone answered the first question. for the second, yes you can have a regular dream about having a lucid dream. It's weird, and ticks you off when you wake up. =P
Yes, LD are as vivid as real life. I also heard that obe`s could be far more vivid than real life.
