Controlling Excitement in LDs?

Okay, I had found a potential problem with practicing LDs.

After a whole night spent trying to have an LD and failing, I tried a last ditch effort to have one. To my surprise, I slipped into one. In my dream, I was lying in my bed as I had been when I fell asleep. I got up and immediately, I heard a low buzzing and I noticed how hard it was to move. If that weren't enough to tell me I was dreaming, one of my friends was in my room, speaking gibberish and flailing her arms around. Of course, now knowing that I was dreaming, I wasn't scared. Instead, I was really excited that I was fully aware in a LD. My thoughts went something like, "YES! YES! FINALLY! I'M IN A LUCID DREAM! HELL YEAH!"

Unfortunately, I got so excited, I woke up. Any ways to prevent myself from blasting myself out of a lucid dream with excitement?

It's hard to do, definitely but not impossible. You must have some sort of self control, it helps alot. Breathe deep, stay calm. Maybe feel things, clap your hands or focus on something. You'll ground yourself in and excitement won't wake you up :)

Well, That happened to me in my first LD. I got really excited and freaked out, waking myself up within five seconds. I had my second LD a few nights ago, and I started to get too excited again, but then I thought 'No, I refuse to waste this LD' and stopped myself.

Yeah, the amount of experience you have is a huge factor too. Seeing as it's your first LD, I wouldn't worry too much.

I got very excited too when I became lucid the first time. I could feel how I was almost slipping back into wake world, but somehow managed to stabilize it. With every LD that followed, the excitement wasnt THAT big so I didn't have any problems more.
Just wait, its completely normal if you get too excited in the first LD's :)

Congratulations on your LD! yeah getting overly excited can end a dream, but on the other hand it's a very nice way to wake up :)
