That happens to me from time to time, but if I write down the few details I remember it will (generally) subside quickly. I don't know what day-to-day factors effect REM, so I can't be much help on that, but have you made any changes to your daily routine recently?
I typically remember many dreams every night, though I have often gone through instances like these where I have a few days or so with very poor recall. Basically, it's not really anything to worry about :content:
Since it's only been two days I don't think this is serious, but a number of things can push dream recall lower than normal. A few...
-Stress
-Amount of sleep
-Busy waking life
We typically forget dreams as everyday life requires us to focus on other tasks, and absorbing yourself into them without first trying to replay the dream in your head makes it harder to remember.
I would suggest autosuggestion, if you're not using that already. Try something promoting good recall, waking up right after dreams(when they're most easily remembered) or both would be best. This has worked well for me, though you can certainly use anything you feel comfortable with: "I will wake up after every dream period and perfectly remember my dreams."
Another solution you could try: Go over the general happenings of your dream(so you won't forget the main points), then start going over it backwards. Starting with the effect and trying to discover the cause will help you be able to go into more detail about the dream.
Another thing with autosuggestion that I like to do is saying specific things that I'll do in a dream. Like, Tonight I'm going to dream about dragons, or something like that. When you constantly reinforce things like that it makes a huge difference.
As soon as you wake up concentrate on the dream that you had, do not let your mind wonder.
Retell yourself the dream to help you remember it all. Once you do that then proceed to write it down.
If you don't let your mind wonder as soon as you wake, then you will remember your dream.
