I coun't my fingers then pull my earlobes. A wierd test yes, but if I have the right amount of fingers, then I always have the elastic ear lobes to fall back on.
Trying to put my finger through my hand works for me :D
Oh cool. I try to put my finger through my hand as well. I haven't really read about that one anywhere either. I also plug my nose and try to breath through it (which I read about here).... the thing is I raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrely do reality checks... i never remember to.
Cheers,
Dylan
Counting fingers seems like a good idea - because even seeing your hands can cause some strange effects (for me anyway)
I tend to check for the small scar on my hand, and if my hand looks 'normal'
Then I question what I ate last, and how I got there (wherever 'there' is). If I can't answer those Q's, then its a dream.
Then if I feel extra energetic about it - I block my nose and breathe...
I used to have a whole lot more, but got lazy :D
whoa the part where you question how you got to 'where' you curremtly are, thats a bloody goo technique Placebo :D
-spin around... i don't get dizzy in my dreams, and irl i get a graceful feeling when i spin just a little, one twirl, but in my dreams i get an unnaturally strong pull of centrifical force
-bang or run into something; in my dreams my pain perception is off, i always feel like i got buffeted back and the air knocked out of me by a big pillow.... as i am a klutz, this is something that i never have to try to consciously check, lol
-drop something i no longer have a use for; in my dreams, once it hits the floor it will cease to exist, even if i want it back
Thanks, but its not an original Placebo idea :DQuote:

You have to be careful with it though - you could easily come up with a BS reason. You need to really ask yourself 'how did I get here... and is that at all unusual...'
The same goes for the last meal
Doesn't thinking about having to check ever work as a trigger for anybody? I don't know, but in waking life, I sure don't have to wonder if I'm dreaming or not, I know I'm not. So I think if it came to me in a dream, "well, I wonder if I'm dreaming, let's check", that alone should be enough to set my mind on to the notion that I'm dreaming.
Often it is.. but in a really vivid dream you're left thinking 'Wow.. this is incredible. It's too good to be a dream. What if I make an idiot of myself? I better play it safe...'Quote:

So, the reality checks work as a sort of confirmation that you're not crazy ;)
Keep in mind, they don't all work the same for everyone... you need to try at least 2 or 3 to be certain
mm, with me and reality checks, it's generally something i do by accident all the time that i don't percieve the same, and for a moment i get the feeling that something weird's going on... but most ppl work up habits that they do when waking so much that their start doing them in their sleep, right?
