Lucid Dreaming with the T.v. on

So most of the times that I have Lucid Dreams, I forgot to turn my T.V. off the night before.

I heard somewhere that watching T.V. before sleeping is like smoking pot before sleeping, because they both make your brain go to the same state. (Could be wrong, saying this out of memory)

So in most of my lucid dreams, I am alone in a pretty mundane environment. Is this because I generally fall asleep with the T.V. on? (My T.V. has a built in sleep timer if you were going to say I waste money)

well i think my recall has suffered a little from staying up to watch hockey playoffs recently. it's the constant flow of imagery that puts your brain in a passive mode which can influence your dreaming... i don't think being in a mundane environment is directly related to falling asleep with the tv on. in my case, i often find myself dreaming in a certain type of location because it's one my awareness returns to every once in a while - it's just one i like to be in i guess. maybe don't watch tv before bed and see what happens for ya.

I never knew having the TV on could have this effect. I often put the sleep settings on 90 so I can see my bed after I turn off the light and watch something til I get bored to sleep (History or Discovery channel FTW! Animal Planet is good too.)

I may just set it on 10 for now on. (lowest setting)

I don't know if it is true or not.

I might just have normally mundane dreams.

well if it's something you don't want to stop doing you could try to use it to your advantage. for example you could have animal planet on and try to have dreams where you see animals and maybe do a RC.

I never really dream about what I have on T.V

Though I am starting to use the sound of the T.V. as a reality check.

Today I was FILDing and I noticed the T.V. wasn't on so I knew It worked.
