Random vs. Reactive
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to know what kind of reality check is more effective. Random in which I would to an RC once an hour or so on the hour. Reactive in which I would see something in real life and do an RC so that in the dream when I do the same, I also do a RC. At the current moment I am doing Random reality checks just to get into the habit of doing them. I am only in the process right now of improving my dream recall, but eventually I'll have to move on, and I would like to know what you guys think is more effective.......Random or Reactive?
Thanks,

Both are helpful, in my opinion.
Only, reactive will be more useful if you have found any dream signs.

I think they both work. Reactive dreamsigns will help you become lucid from dream signs. Random ones will help you train your prospective memory and become more aware. Do them both :D

Reactive. Always.
I've heard of people doing random reality checks all through out the day, every 30 minutes or so, and not getting lucid once. I'm not saying it's impossible to do so, I'm just saying that doing it out of reaction rather than habit is almost always more effective.

Yep, definitely reactive.

I agree, especially for a beginner. At first, I started doing them at random; habitually. It wasn't effective. Once I began RCing re-actively my DILDs have increased a lot! I think it is all about questioning your environment and reacting appropriately when something seems out of the ordinary. Good luck

I figured that I would do both but wondered if it would affect anything (don't know why.) Right now I can only do them at random for I'm only a week into my dream journal and need some more dreams to scope out my dreamsigns. Once I do, I'll begin reactive RC's in addition to some random RC's.
Thanks for the quick replies,
